The Dune series is a classic work of science fiction that has captivated readers for decades. Its intricate plotlines, complex characters, and rich vocabulary make it an excellent tool for any English students looking to improve their skills while exploring the world of science fiction.

My Dad loved the #duneseries and I remember him being excited and then disappointed in the 1984 movie which I hadn’t watched since before he passed in 1990. After seeing the latest #dunemovie I decided to read the #dune book. I didn’t expect to enjoy it since I remembered not really liking the 1984 movie. I went back and rewatched the 1984 version after #reading the book and I get why I didn’t think I’d like the book and why my Dad was disappointed. The newer version is so much better. I’m looking forward to the second half of Dune on the big screen and the next book in the series. #bookstagram #booktomovie #bookgeek #bookworm #booknerd #readersofinstagram #bookish #daddysbooks #bibliophile #bookaddict #bookaholic #bibliotherapy #audiobooks #librarybooks #scifibooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CcdXARNJOmA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"The beginning is a time of taking great care.." - Princess Irulan Corrino.
So I've decided to make this recent burst of Dune fan-love into a series of drawings. I found it fitting to start proper with the one whose words begin the story, Princess Irulan herself, the eldest daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV of the imperial house Corrino
I've always found her interesting, despite being a background character and framing device for most of the first book. The after the fact-ness gives the narrative a feeling of atemporality that I always dig.
She cuts a tragic figure, a writer trapped in the very history she's recording.
I wanted to convey a beauty trapped in the very lines of that history. Forming the motif of the waves and lines in the dress she's wearing, as well as the fact that she's lving in the shadow of sinister things to come.
It was hard to resist overdrawing the Sardaukar bodyguard looming behind her, went just a blank and monstrous thing, a symbol of her father's will and power.
She is trapped yes, but ultimately she has a voice, not as superhuman as the others but significant nonetheless, as a witness to the rise of house Atreides.
-- Also yeah I think some influences are coalescing and of course I was gonna put her in something Filipiniana inspired, them shoulder flaps are fun to draw.
