this is me talking into the void because i'm yearnerful. vampoly focused thing ☝️ er. a multitude of thoughts because i'm bored. here's a little art to go with my posting though <- (said art managed to get me out of art block which explains why it's rendered LOLLLL)
i remembered how much various genres of metal were such a Thing in the 80s—(not that they aren't now, but. i have my reasons for catering to this specifically. story for another day! unless you're a mutual who's heard me talk about it LOL)—and i've been going down memory lane. i.e. relistening because i missed these genres specifically. so now what's stuck in my head is vampoly listening to, say, heavy/black/thrash metal together. maybe they're all alone in the cave together and chloë's got a cassette tape player with various bands saved on standby. something something dwayne and paul holding each side of a headset to their ears and listening to shit like Bathory, Venom, Slayer, Celtic Frost, Megadeth, amongst many more. and if they find a place where the music can be played aloud, they're all gonna rock out. probably. definitely. bonding with your husbandly-wife time i guess.
horror is fun. i like horror. the throuple love to sneak into theaters and watch any horror movies being shown. or maybe every so often they'll snatch a vhs or several and sneak into somewhere to watch them. though, i think chloë kept her favorite souvenir—the first "alien" on vhs—from their collective former lives for them to feel nostalgic. not that they're scared, but chloë, dwayne, and paul will usually be huddled up together while watching something. if it's old, maybe they're pointing out new details while being in a dark ass room. if it's new, they're so laser-focused on watching...sometimes chloë will wait till it's dead silent to make a loud noise and make paul and dwayne start getting mad at her. she's a little piece of shit 👍
chloë likes talking to dwayne and paul about animals. usually her absolute amazement with insects. chloë really likes bugs of any kind. knows how to catch them and will display them to dwayne and paul and tells them to be gentle with every insect she lets them handle. especially moths. one of those big, pretty moths with such gorgeous wings? she'll carefully maneuver the moths onto dwayne and paul's hands and will be unable to stop smiling over their displays of amazement with them. the same can also go for butterflies, praying mantises, beetles...just about anything. cue dwayne and paul being the ones to ask chloë to tell them more about whatever the hell they're handling, and she gets super giddy.
i mention this a few times, but chloë has two snakes: ghost, the piebald ball python, and ouroboros, an emerald tree boa. chloë only really likes dwayne and paul handling either snake, then again that might be because they've known these snakes the longest and have a better grasp on their temperaments. unsurprisingly, the snakes are coordinated to either of the guys' personalities. chloë notes that ghost is more fond of paul, who's fun but patient with the python and doesn't mind that he [ghost] likes roaming around his body. ouroboros likes dwayne, who's a lot calmer and gentler with her decently reserved demeanor. she sometimes treats his arm like a branch. chloë has older pictures of either of these interactions, and after a while, she showed off her collection of these photos to david.
dwayne and paul think chloë has a hard time letting herself being loved. and they aren't exactly wrong. this has existed long before their collective turning. chloë loves to be the giver, something that almost seems embedded into her very way of living. unfortunately, these two pretty men are a major weakness of hers. suppose there's a rough go about things, this usually calls for both guys to be the ones to take more charge. that usually means chloë is probably sitting between both dwayne and paul who pamper her. tell her sweet words that may get a bit of a sheepish reaction out of her. their hands may get a little busy on her body but in a very respectful manner. kisses are endless and they know just how to make chloë feel at ease. despite being the giver, she loves when dwayne and paul know how to make her feel better.
they all have a fondness for being outdoors. nature is nice. chloë knows of several spots that are very beautiful, which dwayne and paul usually end up seconding. dwayne's particularly fond of the time she brought the three of them to a creek. it reminded him of their past and how chloë would take them to creeks so they could find creatures together. paul's fond of the fact that chloë found a particular knick of some woods with an abandoned car from the '60s that they now sometimes hang out in. chloë loves getting to show off the scenery she finds. dwayne and paul also love(d?) getting to buy chloë plants. usually elephant ears or venus flytraps.
you'll have to pry the scenarios of dwayne and paul covering chloë in bloody kisses from my cold dead hands. she totally eggs them on, too. they'll all be a mess of blood, but they get suuuuper affectionate after feeding and they just have to pepper chloë's face in bloody kisses. not that she minds. she quite heavily loves this faux-lipstick her lovers wear. dwayne and paul will just hold her by her face and spend time putting bloody kiss marks all over her face or her neck or the collarbones if they're feeling a little. Yeah. chloë will keep kiss marks on her face to shamelessly show off, which tends to make dwayne and paul equally flustered...but also prideful. because that's their handiwork.
On the surface they can seem somewhat like opposites attract, and that’s partially true, but they line up in more ways than people think
Around Paul Dwayne gets looser, thinks less critically and gets… goofier, for lack of a better word. There’s a type of energy and humor between them that’s similar to best friends with a lot of inside jokes, only with more kissing involved
If they get too worked up/excited while hanging out they can get reckless, and have done plenty of stupid and dangerous things together that usually just boil down to, “Remember that time we did X? That was awesome,” type stories afterwards
They both enjoy PDA
Paul is big and loud with his gestures; swinging their arms back and forth in big motions while they hold hands, jumping onto Dwayne for hugs or kisses (and usually aiming to knock him over in the process since it makes him laugh), ruffling his hair, trying to shimmy up the back of his jacket without asking to put his arms in the sleeves, etc.
Dwayne on the other hand is more detailed and moment to moment; running little pecks over Paul’s knuckles or jaw, pulling him in to dance to music, sitting close and making quiet jokes against his temple, draping his arms over Paul’s shoulders to kiss him, and so on
They give each other a lot of experimental piercings and makeup looks, just because it’s fun
When Dwayne wears heavier makeup he makes it a goal to leave as many lipstick kisses on Paul as possible, peppering his face and neck and shoulders
They also share clothes a lot, swapping shirts and jackets and pieces of jewelry
Paul got their matching eyeball rings when he was browsing a pawn shop, snatching them in a heartbeat and very excitedly bringing them back to show Dwayne
“Now we can match!” Was basically the extent of his excitement, which was true, but the way Dwayne felt when Paul took his hand and gleefully slid the ring onto his finger was… well he never expected anything even close to that to happen after he was turned
Dwayne fusses over Paul’s hair and makes regular attempts to untangle it, which Paul is more than happy to allow him to do, since he likes the feeling of people’s hands in his hair, but it never sticks, always ending up messy again within a few days (or hours, depending)
Dwayne doesn’t mind that much, he honestly finds it endearing, if not a little exasperating
Paul also messes with Dwayne’s hair, though less frequently
It mostly happens when he’s having really high energy days and Dwayne will offer to let him braid his hair and talk about whatever’s on his mind. It’s a way to keep his hands busy and engaged, plus Dwayne likes listening to Paul talk, so it’s a win win
There is a short period of time when Paul becomes obsessed with trying to convince Dwayne to bleach his hair so the whole group can be blonde, but Dwayne refuses, and eventually the novelty of the idea dies out
They do each other’s nails, and even though Paul’s hands are pretty shaky and don’t always get the paint super neat, Dwayne thinks the style looks cool
They go on duo bike rides a lot, and have long wind shouted conversations as they drive
They’re the two out of the group who are most into music, comparing their collections, making regular outings to browse music stores for new releases, and visiting the local concerts as often as they can
They’re pretty similar as far as tastes go, but there’s several albums and artists they just can’t agree on
Dwayne’s more specific about the stuff he likes, but enjoys a range of genres, while Paul can usually vibe to whatever, as long as it’s within the genres of rock or dance pop, so they’ve gotten in plenty of debates about whether or not a specific song is good or not, and it’s one of the things that can get both of them the most worked up
When they get access to fresh cassettes they like to make mixtapes for each other, and it’s one of their most common presents to each other
Paul loses a lot of his, but still remembers all the track lists, and Dwayne has a little cardboard box mixed in with the rest of their music stuff labeled Paul where he keeps all the messily labeled and decorated tapes Paul’s given him
One of Dwayne’s favorite things is when Paul hears a new song that he really likes, because he’ll play it on repeat and dance around the cave, head banging and yelling along to the words, and it just makes him smile
He usually aims to put a few of those types of song on every tape he gives him
They’ve fallen asleep listening to music together before, especially after a good feed, and always have to be roused before the sun comes up or else they’ll sleep right past dawn
They actually did so once, when David and Marko came back and were just way too tired to notice them, and were just lucky to be in an area of the cave that was in shade during the day
It is, of course, one of their absolute favorite stories to tell after the fact

notes: you must be wondering, "chloë, why isnt this on your writing blog?", and to that i say. uhmmm well i love dwpl your honor and i kiss both so they're going on this blog. and also i'm writing in mind catering specifically to my own plot i have involving them so it felt. like it should go here. again, incredibly self indulgent, if you do not like it go take it up with. uhhh ... anyways ! probably blood mentions and guys being freaky but loving. do y'all fuck with dwpl like i do
let me get it out now so i can weed-whack out anyone who will get disinterested if i were to mention this later down the line: i see dwayne and paul as being from the same era and being longtime friends (talking about youth) because it makes me happy and again it caters to my own plot relevance. don't like it? don't care. i think they both grew up relatively troubled but my brain isn't big enough to think about the "how" in that, i just think they found a heavy amount of solace in each other. also i like the trope. you can shoot me but it won't make me stop ☝️
dwayne talks a lot to paul. it's something paul adores immensely. he's very fond of dwayne's voice and has been since they've known each other. cue dwayne talking endlessly about something, even if quietly, and paul's got his head propped up by his hand and is watching very fondly.
removing my half from the equation, i think i can still apply the whole. i want you to be a vampire with me so we can live in eternal bliss together. i still think both come after marko. because why not. something something paul feels mildly bad about wanting to turn dwayne but there's that lingering selfishness of wanting to live forever with his lover yadda yadda.
i am very fond of the idea of hair care between the two, and maybe that's because hair care is something special to me and it'll -1 my health every time i see it. i just like the scenario where they're doing post-feeding care to each other. cleaning up, lounging, whatever else you can think of. blood is matted in their hair and they both take time to work out the kinks and knots and making sure either of them are comfortable and whatnot...i'm so fucking normal
i'm just gonna leave this here. paul bites dwayne on his hips/general abdominal area. totally for reasons you can imagine. yes, he does it because dwayne doesn't wear a shirt. i too am rolling my eyes
how freaky do i wanna make this, actually. should i make this freaky? staring off into the distance. i don't know man, i think them salaciously licking the blood off each other's bodies is hot or some shit leave me alone. i do think dwayne is a little more . it's sporadic on his end and it's seen as a huge act of intimacy. whereas paul, yes it's intimacy, he does it to tease and fluster.
i said on the x-reader blog that paul has a boner for praise, and nsfw joke aside, dwayne giving him any sort of "good words" makes paul's head explode. in a good way. and it's also a little unexpected, because even as comfortable as dwayne is around paul, sometimes dwayne just is quiet. just prefers to not be super wordy but in a more comfortable manner. so when dwayne is just staring at paul and goes "you're so beautiful, you know?", paul just kinda !;!:!;&:?:$:?::):& about that. he's used to being the forward one, not the other way around. not that dwayne can't be forward...really dramatic pause...
you'll have to pry the "biting each other is a form of affection" from my cold dead hands, guys. dwayne and paul covering each other in puncture wounds but lovingly so is very peak ☝️
i feel like. when they go to sleep. they're usually huddled up next to each other. hanging from the roost. if one of them can't sleep (usually dwayne, for a multitude of reasons) the other (usually paul, he gets it) will sway the one unable to sleep. i also think that when they sleep, they exchange jackets for security. like yes bro your lover is right there. but let me wear your jacket so it feels like i'm inside you.
uhmm i think in relation to laddie (i have no idea if it's stated when he joins canonically?) they take on the guardian (or parental, whatever works) role towards him because. well A, i see them as the oldest of the group, and B, i think they wanna preserve the innocence of this kid. they don't push laddie to do anything he doesn't want to. maybe that's because of their own pasts. laddie's already gotten his hand of getting fucked up, they don't want this kid to feel worse. if laddie ever did succumb though, maybe they just inch him towards animal blood first. they're really caring towards this kid and it makes me want to bawl for five hours
speaking on laddie again though. if laddie looks distressed when going to bed (this is a kid who will have nightmares, more intense than your average kid), paul and dwayne don't hesitate going to bed with him. whatever keeps the kid feeling safe, you know?
i think if dwayne's blood-drunk, he starts getting way more affectionate than he typically would and that leads to paul being covered in bloody kiss marks. they're the [images of paul are overlayed]
