A few years ago Easter fell on April 9th (Gerard Ways bday) me & my cousin are both huge MCR fans and also in charge of egg decorating so we of course each made a Happy Birthday Gerard egg

We brought all the eggs over to our grandmas and she always chooses her favorites to go get blessed and then she puts them in a special basket so everyone knows which ones are blessed

We show up on Easter and BOTH Gerard Way eggs are in the special basket and we’re like grandma did you get those blessed??? And she (direct quote) said “I know how important he is to you two girls so I wanted to get them blessed for you”

It was THE SWEETEST FUNNIEST thing that had ever happened to me like she knows nothing of Gerard Way other than the two of us talk about him all the time & she very much does not like his music but she was like ☺️these two worked to hard on the eggs I’ll give them a little treat☺️

Egg Coloring with Me and @socially-awkward-chocobo today!

This was a new coloring kit we’ve never used before so there was a learning curve. it’s amazing how the dark colors wiped off to almost completely pastel colors

Instead of dipping in dyes with vinegar and water, we used a packet of powder and some water and a hand mixer to whip it up like a meringue. It honestly looked like the meringue cookies I like to make. So much so, Choco even asked if we could eat it (I wasn’t sure but decided we shouldn’t. Though egg dyes are usually safe enough in case it gets through cracks in the eggs, but i figured it wouldn’t taste very good)

It was so weird to use foam to dye the eggs. We had 3 colors only, to drip and mix into the foam and then dip eggs. It was definitely a fun and unique experience, even if they’re mostly the same colors (I wish there’d been more distinct color variation from one egg to the next), they still had fun patterns. 

We did REDIP a few eggs that had blank spots, because we found out the foam won’t really drip to cover them during the sitting process.

Between us, it was pretty clear that our favorite color was NOT green, as there was almost no green on any of those eggs till we redipped 5 or 6 of them on purpose.

My eldest wanted to dye some eggs black for Ostara this year and they looked so cool. They’re harder to find and offer a fun contrast. 

Next year we’re gonna have some black and white ones present for ritual to better balance the spectrum and enhance the energy of our spring ritual.
