Stop Throwing Away Your Hard-Earned Money

organizing shampoo bars
Organizing my shampoo and conditioner bars along with my sanitary pads.
I used a cardboard box, covered with leftover cloth that I sewed by hand.
I am far from perfect zero waste, couldn't adapt to menstrual cups or O.B. or menstrual panties.
However, not being perfect doesn't stop me from trying the best I can in all the rest.
I haven't been zero waste for long. I've only been actively participating for the past two months, but when I first started it was overwhelming. Even now I sometimes feel overwhelmed when I go to the grocery store. I try to stay away from plastic, but there's so much wrapped in it and I feel defeated.
However, that's not the whole point of zero waste I've come to realize slowly. Yes, I want to not use plastic, but that's almost close to impossible in today's world. The point for me and many others is to reduce your footprint on the earth. It's about trying as much as you can to avoid it.
Here's some simple but effective ways to feel less overwhelmed if you're just starting out:
When you go to the store, ALWAYS TAKE YOUR REUSABLE BAGS. I found a 100% cotton tote at Marshalls that has six pockets for my food and I love it. Don't stop there, buy some reusable produce bags as well. This alone is such a huge investment. Statistics say the average person will have saved 170 plastic bags or more by doing this in just a year!
Buy a reusable water bottle! This can save 167 water bottles from ending up in the landfill!
Glass floss container and silk floss: This can be worth 7 containers of plastic floss that won't end up in the landfill
1 bamboo toothbrush: Up to 4 plastic toothbrushes! Careful how you buy them, a lot of stuff is greenwashed and is still wrapped in plastic even though its an "eco-friendly toothbrush".
1 metal straw saves 500+ plastic straws!
Reusable towels: up to 7,300 paper towels!
Just these small changes alone will make such a difference in our world. Remember, even if it feels small it's a huge step for us all to reduce the waste.
Soil is our body . We are made up of soil . Soil since we were born till we die . According to research our future generation will suffer a large amount if our soil is not taken care of now . Farmers and those who have agriculture play a role in their lives should not be suffocated . It is predicted that somewher within the year of 2025 to 2030 , India would face dangerous amount of shortage of water ( it does not take too long to reach the rest of the world ) . As to not be selfish and care of only your present years , become an Earth buddy for free with very easy steps . Together we can reach enough people for the government to imply good actions onto the soil and for people to be consious of their actions .

Don't throw it, regrow it 🌱⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ Did you know you can regrow food from kitchen scraps? ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ When you cut off vegetable roots, leave about 1-2cm of the white stalk. Pop them into a container with a little bit of water making sure the stem is out of the water. In a few days the they start to grow again. Try it with different vegetables like leeks, spring onions and celery.⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ✅Follow @helpzerowaste to get more daily Sustainable, ECO & Zero Waste tips ——————————————————- @helpzerowaste @helpzerowaste @helpzerowaste ✅Like, Comment and Tag your friends to spread the message Credit to @zeroinonwaste and @hana_sackler #helpzerowaste #zerowastelifestyle #earthfriendly #sustainablelifestyle #zerowastehome #bethecchangeyouwanttosee #ecofriendlyproducts #consciousconsumer #ecoliving #lesswaste #zerowasteliving #saynotoplastic #plasticpollution #blueplanet #environmentallyfriendly #nowaste #purposedriven #saveourplanet #reducereuserecycle #noplastic #reduce #zeroniononwaste #zerowasteuk #zerowastelondon #zerowaste #zerowastejourney #zerowastetips #reducefoodwaste https://www.instagram.com/p/CFrt0yysOIc/?igshid=kqriqg5jsmqr
how to have a sustainable wardrobe.
Written By: Cassidy (a lady creator)
Often times blame for the condition of our environment is put on the individual. What’s important to know is it’s not simply one person who is responsible for climate change! With that being said, small changes can be made in our daily lives that allow us to make a big impact. One of the most obvious is our clothing. We wear clothes every day to express ourselves and make us feel confident and beautiful, however, waste from fashion is one of the largest contributors to climate change. Small steps can be implemented to help you change that! This is a three-step guide to beginning your journey of obtaining a sustainable wardrobe.
Step 1: Thrifting
One of the most obvious ways of reducing our fashion waste is by shopping at local thrift stores, vintage stores, or consignment shops. Always be cautious of over-consuming at these places. Just because you are spending less does not mean you should buy more simply because it’s cheaper! A healthy practice is to donate one article of clothing (or two, or three!) for every item you buy from the thrift store. This practice can also be applied to non-thrift finds. Enjoy online shopping? Popular mobile apps such as Thred Up, Poshmark, Mercari, and Depop allow for a more curated experience when compared to sorting through racks and racks of clothing. You can filter through size, color, type, etc to find what you’re looking for while still shopping second hand!
Step 2: Clothing Repair
Purchasing a sewing kit can be one of the most helpful things you can do! Learning to repair minor (or even major) damages to clothing you cherish can prevent clothes from winding up in a landfill. Also learning to dye T-shirt’s can give them new life! The average person will toss out 81 pounds of clothing. Stained or tarnished clothing can still be donated or repurposed into rags/cloths.
Step 3: Sustainable Fashion Brands
This is one of the more popular but difficult means of obtaining a sustainable wardrobe. This is because handmade, fair trade or sustainable brands tend to be much more expensive. Many young people do not want to drop $200 on a dress, but it’s important to remember supporting these brands supports men and women around the world fighting for fair wage/working conditions and a healthier environment. Some popular sustainable brands are Reformation, MuuMuu, Everlane, Outdoor Voices and PACT (for athletic clothing needs), and always check Etsy for handmade apparel.
Transitioning to this lifestyle can be difficult at first but remembering your small impact and create a ripple in preventing climate change allows us to reflect and be more conscious of our relationship with the world.
