Emergency French for your weekend in paris
Never walk up to a french person and start talking in English right away. It’s rude and you may offend them. Instead say “Es kuh vu par lay anglays?” (Est-ce que vous parlez anglais?) and they will be more responsive.
Look for “sortie” on signs. It means exit.
If you have no french your best bet is to stick to touristy areas because there will be people around who can help you if you get lost.
-level I know bonjour and merci-
Ou sont les toilettes ?- where is the bathroom
Je voudrais...- I would like
Often a french person used to dealing with tourists will just respond to you in English upon hearing your accent. If they don’t, you may have trouble understanding their response. If this happens a simple “Pardon, es kill e ah kell kun key poo parlay anglays?” (Excuse me, is there someone who speaks English?) should help.
-level I took a french class once-
est-ce que vous pouvez m’aider ?- can you help me?
