Something that angers you, your birthday, key to your heart, best gift you ever received and why
☠ Something that angers you
Honestly? I’m usually most angry at myself, for failing to meet the expectations I’ve set for myself. I hate my own helplessness to assist the people I care about, and the world as a whole.
On more general things, bullies get my blood boiling in general.
📅 Your birthday
Groundhog’s Day (2/2)
🔑 Key to your heart
lmao haven’t got one of them things. they’re pesky.
Seriously though, I don’t have a proper method to win me over because nobody’s been successful yet. I suspect shiny rocks (the kind you get while rock hounding, not the fancy stuff you wear) would be a good place to start.
🎁 Best gift you ever received and why
hmmm.....there have been some very notable gifts in my life. But....the most important ones to me are the little things. The off times when somebody will listen to me ramble, not cuz they’re a hostage audience or whatever, but because they actually care? When somebody sends me a note out of the blue, to let me know they’re thinking about me, even when they don’t have any obligation to do so? The goofy little gifts that people pick up at consignment stores for $2 because “this reminded me of you!”
Those are the most important gifts for me.
GET TO KNOW ME, SEND ME A SYMBOL.
🌻
Today I finished cleaning out my apartment to move home. I don’t know what I’m doing right now, but I certainly don’t regret resigning from my former job.
Currently looking into grad school tho.
send me a 🌻 and ill just tell you whatever the fuck i want
24: Talk about something someone told you that meant a lot. 32: Talk about a place you remember from your childhood. 39: Talk about things you wish you'd known earlier. 40: Talk about the end of something in your life :0c you seem very wise or at least you talk very eloquently
I’m not sure if I’m eloquent or rambly. But thank you. >///<
24: Talk about something someone told you that meant a lot.
I moved three times when I was in high school. It was rough all around, and I was left feeling isolated and lonely.
On one particular day an old friend messaged me over facebook. I don’t remember the exact message or what prompted it, but it was an encouragement note. And it made me feel better to know that even though I wasn’t there, I wasn’t entirely forgotten.
32: Talk about a place you remember from your childhood.
I remember Goat Island, off the coast of Oahu. At that time, you could only access it if you trekked along the beach for a good bit, and even then you had to go at low tide.
I only went once in memory, and I was maybe 3 or 4? My mom was there, and so was my (now estranged) aunt. I don’t remember any clear details, but I remember combing the beaches, which were far more pristine than the tourist beaches. It was raining and we were in an alcove cut out in the black lava rock by the tides. We looking for specific special shells for my aunt. she put them in those old black film roll cases for safe keeping when we trekked back.
39: Talk about things you wish you'd known earlier.
I wish I’d known that it wasn’t my fault that I was so tired all the time. That it wasn’t because I was lazy or not exercising enough or not eating right or not doing yoga. That it wasn’t because I was too weak, and just needed to get up and keep pushing on.
I lost my ambition and even my personality. All my emotions were basically a neutral gray, or anxiety. It affected my schooling and my social life. By the time I was in my final semester, I knew that I would never be able to accomplish any of my loftier hopes and dreams, because I’d never have the energy. I’d never be well enough, and I blamed myself.
It was scary and disheartening, but I adapted. I changed my goals to simple ones--get a boring desk job I could work reliably, and financially support myself until I die. If I was lucky, I could work on art in the evenings.
I was convinced that it was normal, and that I was just a whiner. That being a low energy person was both a choice and something unfixable.
It wasn’t, and I didn’t find out until I’d lived like that for at least five years.
40: Talk about the end of something in your life
The concept of ending and the art of letting go is a huge theme through a lot of my writing and art. I’ve been to a lot of funerals...more than I can count. Enough that I have a grade scale of “good funerals” to “bad funerals.”
The first person to break my heart was a childhood friend of mine.
I called him the Bearded Crocodile because of his beautiful, full white beard. He and his wife were neighbors, and had known me since the day I was born. He spoiled me and my sisters rotten; he would slip us candies against mom’s wishes, would give us rolls of quarters as “ice cream money,” and was generally gentle and good. They even hosted a tea party for us once, and gifted us with lovely precious moments dolls.
Even after I moved further down the valley, we’d make it a point to visit them whenever we were in the area. We’d sit and chat, and he’d sneak us candies, and it was just...good.
But life happens. People get older, and weaker, and so did my Bearded Crocodile. He shaved off his beard one day, because he could no longer maintain it. Then he struggled to breathe without oxygen, or even to get out of his easy chair.
And then, one day he asked me who I was.
There’s no way to really describe that feeling, when somebody who’s known you all your life, looks you dead in the eye without an ounce of recognition. But it felt like the entire world had tilted upside down. And it took everything in me to keep smiling. I can’t remember if the aid told him I was a granddaughter or a friend, but I don’t think it matters.
I cried all the way home.
easyas123abc replied to your post:im glad everyone appreciates Sans the Homebody
I bet Sans really enjoys being able to make legit dad jokes now
he does and it drives everyone up the wall but they love him anyway
Wtf does sans even D O does he just walk around to pick up his kids in pink slippers or does he actually work and support toriel
both? both.
when they got to the surface it kind of took a while for sans to get on his feet because. depression is fun kids!! but it helped that when they got there, pap, sans, and toriel all lived in the same house and THEN became next door neighbors. look okay, the kids got attached.
So having that support net of hard workers, plus the fact monster currency is p U R E GOLD meant they all had a pretty decent starting point for sans to take his time and get on his feet. and when he finally could, he was the world’s biggest homebody.
cos toriel was working at her school, and pap got a real job! and chara, at home by themself where their head can easily loop its negative thoughts on itself repeatedly? prooooobably not the best thing.
so yeah, at first sans is the homebody who picks up the kids in his slippers and treats them to greasy food and comfort movies, and bad jokes. when he finally manages to knock the depression down a couple pegs, he starts focusing on seasonal minimum wage jobs, just for the extra cash to help with this and that.
it takes a while for him to find a stable job that sticks--he does a lot of small stuff. hell by the time he finds a real solid job even chara’s done a couple minimum wage shitty jobs (f u n)
but nobody really minds?
because those kids really needed someone to be home and supportive but still pretty cut-through-the-bullshit for them, and everyone really understands that he’s also really sick too. the fact he even attempts cooking and supporting means a lot, because it’s a form of self-care he couldn’t manage before
