Vikings Luxury Buffet Offers Buffet Delivery at Home
All of our friends know that my fiance and I are big buffet lovers. Most of our early dates were spent prowling the best buffet deals around the city. I still remember the excitement I felt the first time we dined at a Vikings Luxury Buffet restaurant. That was the start of our Vikings adventure as we set out to visit and dine at all of their current and then-upcoming branches in Metro Manila and even the ones in Cebu, Davao, and Bacolod. Out of their 12 branches all over the Philippines, the only one we haven’t visited is their newest one in Iloilo. It was really sad when buffet restaurants had to close down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but there’s a reason to celebrate once more because we found out that Vikings Luxury Buffet now offers buffet delivery at home.
We can Feast like a King at the comforts of our homes as Vikings bring the buffet experience right to our dining tables. Create Your Own Buffet as you choose 14 different items from a wide variety of familiar dishes that Vikings serves at its restaurants. Of course, the food is not unlimited and it’s not exactly the same as dining in an actual buffet restaurant, but it’s the closest thing we will get during this new normal environment.
This is what we got from the Vikings Luxury Buffet delivery. I placed an order through their Viber number two weeks ago so we could try this Vikings feast for ourselves. I made the order a day in advance of our preferred delivery date. There were a few logistical problems with the promptness of their replies and the delivery schedule, but I’m sure they will be able to solve these minor issues. You can pick up your order at their open branches, but it is easier to just request it for delivery. They will book a rider to pick up and send the packages to your address, so you just have to pay the delivery fee to the rider.
Create Your Own Buffet lets you have all of these for only P600 per person. There is a minimum of 5 pax so it is basically a buffet set for P3,000. This is great for house parties or special occasions since we can’t go out to dine at restaurants anymore. Depending on your location, your order will be serviced by the branch nearest you that is open. I placed my order at the SM North EDSA branch but the food items were prepared and delivered by the SM Megamall outlet. Other branch offer different menu selections as well.
We can choose two salads so we decided to get the Caesar Salad and the Waldorf Salad. We’re not really salad lovers, but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed their Caesar Salad with its grated cheese, bacon, and croutons. The Waldorf Salad came with apple slices and nuts topped with mayonnaise dressing.
For appetizers, we chose two variants out of the nine choices. The Oyster Rockefeller was an easy choice since this is something that is not easy to prepare at home. There were around 8 pieces of oysters to share.
It was also a while since I had sushi so I opted for the Assorted Maki and Sushi. This is a big platter of California maki, Kani sushi, and other assorted rolls. It was actually a tough choice between this and the Dimsum Hakaw which I always love and attack at Vikings, but I felt that only a few pieces of hakaw would be offered, which I would have consumed all by myself.
Next up is to choose three items from the Vegetable and Rice list. The Arroz Con Pollo was our choice of rice since it was similar to a paella. The Steak Rice was also an option but we opted to get this one instead. We also chose Buttered Vegetables and Truffle Mashed Potatoes as our vegetable side dishes, which were combined on the meat tray which you will see later.
Now let’s get to the Main Dishes! You can choose five items out of the twelve main dishes offered on the menu. Whenever I go to Vikings or any buffet restaurants, the highlights of my meal are always the steak and tempura. So it was a no-brainer to order the Shrimp Tempura. I was worried there might only be one piece per person, but there was a total of 12 pieces of crispy tempura on the platter so I was happy.
Next is the award-winning Binusog na Lechon which is always a popular dish at the carving station. Vikings upgraded the traditional lechon belly and stuffed it with flavorful rice inside, so this is already a complete meal by itself. The skin was still crispy which is always a bonus.
We also included some Patatim to give our selection some Chinese cuisine. The pork was really tender and I liked the crunchy brocolli on the side.
But the highlight of our Vikings at Home would definitely be the steaks! They combined both of our steak choices in one meaty platter together with the Buttered Vegetables and Truffle Mashed Potato side dishes.
The Roasted Angus Beef Belly is a meaty and fatty steak that just oozes with flavors. A special red wine sauce is also served separately. At first, we thought that the portions served may not be enough for five persons, but they are actually good enough, even for those with big appetites like us.
Then there is the Minute Angus Steak which is better for those who prefer their steaks lean and mean. This one comes with pepper sauce so you have several sauces to choose from. One problem with having food for delivery is that the items won’t be that hot anymore. But this can be remedied by taking several trips to the microwave to reheat the food on your plate. In a way, it was also like in Vikings where you take several trips to the buffet table!
For desserts, we chose the Blueberry Cheesecake which unfortunately seemed to have had a tough ride to our house. Despite the appearance, I was quite impressed with this cheesecake which was rich and creamy. I have to say that it is even better than the ones they serve at Vikings buffet.
I highly recommend getting the Revel Bars as your other dessert option. These chocolate bars are just so heavenly! It comes with thick gooey chocolate that just melts in your mouth. I ended up eating most of these revel bars.
Together with all these party treats is a choice of one Juice and one Soda for the group. We got the House Blend Iced Tea and 1.5L 7-Up as our drinks.
Another tradition we do almost every year is celebrating our birthday at Vikings and availing their FREE Birthday Buffet promo. We weren’t able to do this last April since all the restaurants were closed, but Vikings is now offering their birthday promo exclusive for their delivery menu. Those celebrating their birthdays can get their portion for free and only have to pay for four persons instead of five.
They even let March and April celebrants avail of their birthday promo all the way until May. That’s how my fiancé was still able to get his Vikings birthday party. We only paid P2400 for this set, which I think is quite a steal. It even came with a free mini-birthday cake.
Ordering is also much easier now because the Vikings Group just launched an Online Delivery Website for all their restaurants and brands including Vikings Luxury Buffet. You can still call of text one of their hotlines, but it is better to just click and choose your orders from the menu on the website. So while there’s really nothing like eating at a grand restaurant buffet, this is the next best option available during the new normal.
