Danyal had gotten chatting with a young witch with white blonde hair in Flourish and Blott's. She’d been very interested in his odd robes and the scarab necklace he wore. She was extremely patient with his less than perfect English as he talked about it. When Luna’s father came over, Danyal grinned as she made introductions. “Daddy, this is Mr. Danyal Salama. He is going to be a new professor and Quidditch instructor at Hogwarts this year. He wears a cursed scarab. Isn’t that interesting?” Danyal’s gaze cast down at his necklace with a quirky smile. “Well it is not so much cursed anymore. Now it protects me but not before it really messed me up but --- that’s a life.” Luna seemed to agree, nodding brightly before Danyal stuck his hand out to Mr. Lovegood. “Nice to be meeting you.”

The sudden exclamation caused Remus to choke a bit on his butterbeer. The form clung a bit to the facial hair on his upper lip but the professor quickly rectified that with a small bar napkin before turning in his stool to perk a brow in Xenophilius’s direction. Remus’s cheeks were slightly pink but he did his best not to think about that lest they flush harder. “Lovegood, so nice to see you again,” said Remus, addressing him as he would if they were still in school together. If Remus recalled right, the other had been a year ahead of him and naturally being in a different house led to no use of a first name. “What was that just now? I didn’t quite catch it. Why don’t you sit. Does Luna know you’re in Hogsmede today? Seems a shame she’s not yet in her third year, else she could have met up with you.” Better to turn the discussion to something more appropriate should Xenophilius wish to save face. Even if it had been nice to hear.

Bees. She’s went and built him a beehive for Valentine’s for no other reason than that it would be nice to be able to add fresh honey to his tea and biscuits. And maybe because she once had seen him hovering in the back garden in an empty space and thought a bright splash of yellow and a decent hive would look lovely there.

James had helped her most days, while he was at the pet shop and Marlene sat in her chair and gave orders. She went as far as to order him a keepers get up, patterned in yellow and orange and green and it’s set out on the bench when she leads him into the garden with her hands over his eyes.

“It’s no’-- conventional--” she laughs and comes around to press a soft kiss to his lips, telling him to keep his eyes closed for a moment more.

She stepped away and made a few final adjustments. Made sure the doors were sealed properly and his outfit spread out before him. “Right--- ye can look now.”

Pandora takes his hand in hers, processing his words as she pulls him towards her. “I was privately tutored,” she acknowledges dismissively, correcting his positioning to be more appropriate for a waltz. “My... toes will be fine.”

Small talk is a skill she hasn’t acquired, has found no need for. Her parents paid for various lessons in social etiquette and manners throughout her childhood, dancing included, but she never took to it the way her cousin did. But lately, Xenophilius’s presence makes her want to make an effort where she once never cared to. Pandora pays little attention to things that don’t capture her interest or things she doesn’t care about, so it’s a strange feeling. “Follow my movements,” she says, taking the lead in the dance; she will scrutinize the change later. 

“The pattern is simplistic and methodical, it should be easy enough for you to follow.”

You gotta go in there with saws or those little pinchy-things they used on mummies to pull the brain out through nose and you gotta dig in there deep and grab hold and yank it out and it’s--it’s not pleasant. Y’know.”
