You've been alive for as long as you can remember, longer even than the 4 great nations.
Your past was fuzzy at best, were you born? Did you have a family? You can vaguely remember them sometimes.
For all you know, you might be a spirit of sorts, but spirits don't bleed do they? Maybe you drank from a fountain of youth? Maybe even cursed for a sin you've committed
It doesn't matter, you've been wandering the world your whole life searching for purpose.
Living for that long of a time changed you greatly. Somedays you envied other people for being able to grow old and die, it turned you jaded and indifferent to everything.
You've been many things, a painter, a cook, a tailor, a criminal, a poet and currently a mabeast hunter.
By chance, you stumbled upon Echidna's tomb and was invited to a tea party.
Echidna was intrigued to no end by you. You had knowledge so ancient that it isn't even recorded. Not to mention she might even learn how to become immortal from you.
You hated her at first, for her amorality, callousness and uncaring nature. Sure you were quite similar, but you tried not to interfere with the lives of mortals.
One day, to save a village threatened by the Great Rabbit, you made a contract with her. You didn’t really care about the villagers, but the money was worth it, Echidna couldn’t really harm you and you thought that maybe she could bring some intrigue into your life.
You thought it through and made sure that you can pull out from the contract anytime you want.
In your spare time, she would call you to tea parties and wanted you to impart knowledge to her no matter how trivial.
She was surprised by a lot of things you taught her, some of them don't line up with historical records but you remember them as clear as day.
You never expected her to change. You saw her through the front that she puts up but eventually over decades, depending on each other created a mutual respect which blossomed into care.
She doesn't fully change of course, but she comes to understand that she fears losing you.
Eventually she comes to care more about you than the possibility of being immortal. You care for her too since you’ve never interacted with someone frequently this long and you both start to regain your humanity through each other.
You'll figure out a way to resurrect her and give her a corporeal form to start your journey together from zero.
