I know reviews on creams are generally for just one product and one product a lone. But I felt I couldn’t do that as I found my daughter benefited from two products. These products helped bring her skin under control. Yes one was probably used more than the other but I still felt it was important to give an honest view on how I helped to calm her skin. I wanted to write ‘try’ and bring her skin under control because in my honest opinion it is ‘trying’! I can’t, as much as I’d like to think I could, I can’t control her skin 100% as I can’t even control mine. But I can at least try! Trying to find the perfect cream for your daughter and in my instance myself too is very hard to do. If I was to add up all the money spent on creams, lotions and potions over the years I could have put a deposit down on a house if not bought one out right (well maybe a few years ago!) Watching your daughter suffer with atopic eczema is very hard to do. Watching her in pain, struggling to stop scratching, breaks my heart. So after a routine dermatology appointment in the summer I came back from there thinking enough was enough. I was tired of being spoken down to by specialists who I felt didn’t actually use or know what these products are like on the skin. I went straight on the MAC and started researching natural products that were good for the skin especially those suffering from eczema. After reading the reviews I decided we had nothing to lose by trying out these products. The only thing that would be tested was ‘Patience’! I knew it would take more than a night to make a difference! The creams I ordered for my daughter to try was #BriaOrganicsreliefrepairreplenishBalm and #OrganicBabyRepairLotionOdylique by Essential care. The reason I ordered these two creams were due to the reviews from both companies and one being a thicker consistency than the other. I decided from the start after receiving the creams that I would cream my daughter with the repair lotion first and then use the balm to hold in the moisture. It took a few days to show a real difference, but the redness had certainly lessened and the colour had come back to her skin. She wasn’t looking so white, a particular look from ones suffering from eczema and using creams prescribed by the doctor. I also had to support my daughter through this change and knew that the skin could get worst before it gets better due to different ingredients going on the skin. The balm is very thick and greasy, beeswax being the barrier to lock the moisture in – it is highly moisturizing which is very much needed when needing to put the moisture back in the skin. The repair lotion is a much thinner consistency as shea butter is used. This I found was not enough for my daughter and too thin to use just by itself. It was a very up and down experience at first and at times due to the frustration from my daughter I was at many time tempted to stop and go back to what she used even though in my head I knew it wasn’t what I wanted and would have felt I’d failed her. I did decide to use the creams a long side my daughter but found I had to stop as the beeswax was far to greasy for me and my skin just didn’t get on with it. Something us eczema suffers have to get used to! What works for one does not always for all! This didn’t make me think that I should stop using this on my daughter as I was seeing a real difference after a few weeks. I was determined to get her skin under control before she started school and I really felt I did. I was so happy. She was happy. And as the school saw it worked we were able to use the cream at school and worked out a care plan for it to be applied at school so we could make sure we kept the skin under control. With this plan in action we were able to see what the balm was truly like under all forms of pressure! We were still using the repair lotion but it was more for her hands as it is a nice light lotion that sinks in quickly, which was what was needed whilst being at school. A few days after school, her skin started to flare up. Her back, legs, feet and arms became red and angry. We persisted with the cream whilst looking at the whole picture. Things were put in place to support my daughter at school by bringing in a blanket so she could sit on the carpet (the carpet made her itchy), we bought 100% cotton clothes to close as possible to school colours for comfort and made sure she wasn’t sitting right by a radiator! She would be creamed up at least once at school, but it would also be in the classroom for her to get hold o should she need it when having a bad day. Like myself my youngest daughter is very allergic and can react to even the environment, weather as well as to clothing and food etc so sometimes it is very hard to pin point what has made her itchy. What I found with the balm is that it soothed her skin, was easy to apply and you could apply it as much as needed because it was all natural. Six months on, her back is practically eczema clear. The only slight redness is at the very top under her hairline, but other than that her torso is clear. Her arms are also looking good, they’re maybe a slight redness in the folds of her elbows but generally I am really pleased with what I see. The real battle at times I would say is her hands and feet. Those are the two areas that remain dry to touch, no redness but sadly her hands are open to elements so with the cold, water, anything she touches can cause the dryness. The dermatologist that we still see comments on those areas so would be great to get those under control. Eczema is very debilitating when at its worst and not every cream is going to work for everyone. But for my daughter I am glad to have persevered and kept on using the balm and lotion as I do genuinely think they have helped her skin. They do provide bathing products also. We use the bria organics bath oil, which does soothe her skin, and when putting the balm on before bedtime, you can feel the smoothness of her skin. I would definitely recommend these products for anyone suffering with eczema, psoriasis or any skin soreness and to be patient! The only down side is that they are quite expensive products especially as the containers are not on the large size and depending on how bad you or your child’s skin is, you’ll find it won’t last long. Ideally being on the NHS would be dream but sadly where I live that was a no go. But trying it definitely out ways the expense! I found the customer service with Bria organics when I contacted them through facebook (hadn’t contacted odylique) so helpful and would answer any worries or concerns, and would get back to you within 24 hrs whether you use their website, facebook page or on instagram. It may sound silly but it’s the little things like that that I find important, as sometimes you just need a little bit of reassurance at the other end of the line when you’re trying something new. I have wanted to write this review for quite a few months now but I wanted to really give this cream a chance and put it through its paces especially as my daughter started school in September and I wanted to see how it worked through flare ups from stress, the environment, school clothing etc. And really wanted to give an honest account. I hope this has helped and please don’t hesitate if you have any questions. Good Luck #TheAllergyFamily http://www.briaorganics.com/ http://www.odylique.co.uk/baby-repair-lotion.html
