January Wrap-up
I read 11 books in January.
Eight of them were Theodora Taylor romances (I went on another TT bender). Each book ranged between 3 and 4 stars.
One was The Last Wish, the first Witcher novel, which was fun to read while also watching the first season of the show. 4 stars.
But these two were my favs:
With Love From Cold World by Alicia Thompson
Ugh, this book. It was so good! I cried salty tears multiple times while reading it. Thompson wrote an enemies to lovers story that managed to be incredibly kind and empathetic.
I'm not a big fan of the enemies to lovers trope. I don't like it when the protagonists don't like each other. It's not delicious tension to me, it's just tense. But this book just had to prove me wrong! Highly recommend, 5 stars, just the best.
Edenville by Sam Rebelein
I don't think this book is getting enough attention. It is a really fun, funny, gross horror novel that gleefully skewers academia while also being really creepy. I wasn't really scared while reading it, but I was horrified.
There is a lot of gore and body horror in this one. No one is that likeable, but there are some redeemable moments (and some well deserved just rewards). It's got flavors of cosmic horror, folk horror, urban legends, science fiction, and maybe even a twist of dark academia (but like, DARK). 5 stars.
