Here's one fans of aliens and insects alike will appreciate: it's the (tragically unused) animatronic Edgar bug from Men In Black! Built by Rick Baker and his team, this 12-foot-tall space roach was intended for use in the climactic final battle, which originally contained a lengthy conversation between Edgar and the agents before any action happened. The animatronic ended up unused, and Edgar was switched to a CGI rig instead, purportedly because they didn't find the animatronic expressive enough facially.

While Edgar is wonderful in any case, it's a shame this beauty didn't take to the big screen like it was meant to; I adore the cobra-like hood especially. Funnily enough, the tie-in action figure for Edgar was modeled after this design as well.

A vehicle to his rear emitted a jarring blast of noise... From watching the other pilots, Edgar had learned the proper response to such a signal. He leaned the upper section of his disguise out through the open window, extended the middle digit of his port hand upward, and yelled at the pilot to his rear: “Hey, up yours, pal!” Satisfied that he was communicating properly with these stupid terrans, Edgar leaned back to the vehicle’s cockpit and concentrated on his piloting.

This is probably my favorite thing in the novel? So here’s some AU nonsense. idk why but it’s SO FUN to make L babysit the jerkass aliens. Give the poor woman a vacation please.

Lot #485 - MEN IN BLACK (1997) - Full-Size Edgar Bug Animatronic Alien

This could take a few asks, but: 1 - Edgar is the better looking as far as I'm concerned; 2 - Edgar was pretty much THE reason I watched MIB, and not really cared for the sequels; 3 - It seems there's more in that pic, I see Edgar with his "suit" on in the top-right, and what appears to be him ditching it above him and Edwin and; 4 - His best line? "In fact in a few seconds you won't even BE Matter!" :-p

1- But of course2- SAME. I’m a sucker for villains and the novel (as badly written as it was) expanded on his character in a way that solidified him as one of my faves.3- This is the whole page :P A lot of Edgar in a suit in a suit. Because why not?4- I’m torn between that and “A man came in here earlier…… a dead man.” He just looks so pleased with himself. Like this is a totally normal thing a human would say at a morgue. Nailed it. 100% flawless human interaction.5- yo not gonna lie I am absolutely blown away that there’s at least one other Edgar fan. THANK YOU :’)

I used to be obsessed with Men in Black. Particularly Vincent D’Onofrio. I don’t know. I was a weird kid. But I always had this headcannon that if he was arrested instead of blown up, he would have been an MIB agent. like. the worst guy to be on a team with because he’s always griping about working with “these milk-drinkers/meatbags” and always comes back to the MIB HQ with a shitload of bugs in his pockets because he wants to protect them and chills with the worm guys and huffs raid with them.
