Whaddya say?
I hatched a bunch of very cute gen2 babies today :D The first two rows are the newbies, third one are gen2s that are already a bit older.
You can find them all in my sales tab. Will put l/ink in the reblog!
NEW HATCHLINGS!
I just hatched my first two hatchlings from my laced/edged breeding pair, and holy crap they are so pretty! (Adult photos showed!)
Pink Female: #52205554
Coral Laced, Orca Edged, Flint Ringlets, common eyes
Yellow Male: #52205551
Maize Laced, Moon Edged, Shale Ringlets, uncommon eyes
Since they are double for two brand new genes and ringlets is rare too, they are going for 30g! I’m willing to switch it to treasure, though, which will be 30,000.
Check them out at my lair! (Others Tab)
New Genes...
Still at the “not sure if like” stage with the two new genes, but I’ll definitely be using edged on a dragon or two since my first thought on seeing it was “LEAVES!!!: and:
or maybe:
Laced also works passably for flaking bark, but I’m more on the bleah or meh side with it.
I think my biggest problem with the new pair of genes is that there’s too many places where it looks like they’re overlaid on top of a flat drawing of the dragon instead of actually a part of the dragon, since the ‘laced’ and ‘edged’ shapes aren’t conforming to the shape of the underlying art particularly well. As an example, look at the upper wing surface of this guardian dragon. It’s got a deeply scooped edge, and shading that suggests curved folds Look at that line of three edges just to the right of the first joints back; the top corner of the topmost edge is even touching a curved shade-line. Is the row of three edges following the curve? NO! It’s a straight line down instead of conforming to the underlying shape. There’s also plenty of places where there’s a laced- or edged-curve crossing over something like a wing rib without its shape being deformed or cut off by the underlying geometry. And yes, it’d have been more work to actually pay attention to what the lacing and edging was being drawn on top of, but the effort should have been made.
Mind you there’s been other genes where I was initially seeing all the things wrong with the gene and later used the gene extensively anyway (scales, I’m looking at you...) so that bleah feeling might change once I get more used to it.
Also at least it’s doing something on the belly, even if that something is pretty minimal (hooray that genes-that-do-nothing-for-the-belly seems to have stopped being a regular thing). Now if only we’d get another tert or three that did something for the belly, because lets face it underbelly is pretty damned boring, little more than a flat-fill, and it’d be really nice to have, oh, I don’t know... ventral scales maybe!? Even just a few tert genes that carried the patterning of older primary-secondary gene sets onto the belly area, like a tert that matched jaguar and rosette, or giraffe and hex, or poison and toxin, etc, but covering the otherwise largely untouched belly area.
Yeah, I’m feeling slightly rantish, I’m still caffeinating for the day.
Got some parrot hatchlings up for sale! One radioactive tert and two twins with peridot!
Up on the AH for 50g/kt but willing to haggle!
