Update: I began this Tumblr with 10,000 original images in a virtual queue and 3,000 more in reserve. All of them were images from the first two volumes of my "Handfuls of History" books, based on firearms and edged weapons, respectively (www.handfulsofhistory.com). Each day's post is selected at random (by a roll of 4 D10s) from the queue. At this point, I have made 2730 posts and have 2531 followers. Not bad, even though I haven't sold many copies of my books, which was my original purpose.
I am current working on the third volume of Handfuls of History, this one will be about ancient history, illustrated with coins. As I have nearly exhausted my original reserve, I will soon start using pictures from the third volume to maintain the queue at 10,000. However, as they will be tricking into the queue slowly, it will be a while before they start showing up as regular daily posts. Therefore, I have decided to make occasional special posts from the coin book, such as the Five Julias post I made about a week ago. Later today I will post a follow-up to the Five Julias that includes a coin-illustrated family tree of the Severan Dynasty, showing how the five Julias fit in.
