Proper RolePlay Edicate

One of the major aspects of dnd is how the players can interact with the characters and the world through role playing. Acting like someone you’re not and even going above and beyond for a performance to truely invest in the world. However, there are a few things to note when roleplaying a character that makes the experience enjoyable and peaceful.

1. Understand the character is not the player. Sometimes a situation arises where the character wants to do one thing, but the player doesn’t want to. Just remember that the player is not the character and is free to decide how they want the interaction to go. This also applies to party decisions, A player could understand why the party wants to do one thing, but the character could be completely against it. This is especially important for players playing Evil alligned characters.

2. Don’t mechanically prevent player characters from being player characters. There will be times where roleplaying characters mechanically inhibit the party, as a player you need to try your best to play your character without doing something the rest of the party doesn’t want to happen. Example: Paladins of Good cannot allow any evil alligned characters/NPCs to win, and if they knowingly let one go they lose their powers and abilities. So if one member of the party is a paladin, try not to create a situation where they lose their powers, as it’s not only inhibiting the party by losing a member, but it’s also rude to the player to just force them to not be a character anymore.

3. Have fun. Even with rules, the point of roleplaying is to have fun, enjoy yourself. These characters are your creation and can act how they want, how you want. As long as you’re not being too rude or disrespectful and not mechanically hurting the party, play as you want.

How do you guys feel about someone (you don't know) taken a fic and doing a review. Link to it from their blog but without permission. It is not really about the critic - it is more about doing something without asking. The critic in said person's reviews are all very taste based. No examples or real reasoning is given. I read them all not just the one she did for one of my fics. But long and short trying to figure how I feel about this.
