I've read your posts on Edward and Beauford - and very much enjoyed - but do you think the outcome would be about the same if it was Edith and Bella instead?

The Beauford Swan Series
Edith Swan
Thoughts on Edith/Bella
Alice has to adjust Edith's ridiculous popped collars before school because Edith still wants to wear her blouses in the style of the lesbian high collars from the early 1900s....
"But it's COOL, Alice!"
"it's not cool, you look like an asshole"
Beau Swan, you must choose: Stay mortal and keep eating mortal food or join your vampire girlfriend and drink blood.
You can't have your cake and Edith too.
if swanhilde bellamy went back in time to save beauford from edythe, how do you think her relations with the cullens would differ from hong's?
The Seventh Seal, and Bella's time traveling gift. This time, for similar reasons, Beauford's gift is going with a hot female version who is less hot than Edith who made Beauford jump off cliffs.
Well, congrats anon, on going so recursively deep in fics and metas that this ask would be nonsensical on any other blog.
But back to the question.
I'm assuming only Edythe is gender bent and we're not in full Life and Death here? I'll go ahead and assume that.
The Relationship with Edythe
Edythe is far less welcoming than even Edward was. While Edward comes to see Hong as someone whose focus is only Edward himself, and who is testing Edward and pushing him to be a better person, with ultimate faith in Edward, I don't think Edythe would.
Edythe, I think, would be too inclined to jealousy and seeing Swanhilde as the prettier, better, woman who Beauford is naturally showing more interest in when he'd never pay so much interest to Edythe.
That Swanhilde is more gifted is just icing on the cake.
Edythe never moves past the suspicion of and loathing of Swanhilde.
The Rest
Pretty much the same.
Emmett's much less intimidated and just shrugs and says "she's weird yo" and is over her that much sooner as he doesn't feel he's in competition with a skinny hybrid girl.
Rosalie, though, is still done. Done.
And the rest I imagine are pretty much the same.
What if, in place of Edward, Edith was in the original canon/sacred timeline, how would things have developed. Would she have a better relationship with Rosalie? How would her dynamic with Carlilse be, if she's lesbian? Is Edythe/Rosalie a viable pairing? I'm aware this is more than one question, but basically I want the dynamics of Edythe with the rest of the Original Cullen Family. If you adhere to a strict one question policy- please go with the Edythe/Rosalie one.
I mean, it depends on who Edythe is.
Is she Edward in a wig with female socialization? Is she... this character I hear about from Life and Death who apparently is a very toned down Edward? For the sake of my sanity (and to keep in line with the Beauford posts, we're going to say that Edith is the former, Edward as closely transferred as I can imagine him into a woman's socialization.)
So, with that, things would have been very different.
A History of Edith Cullen
Edith is turned by Carlisle. She's upper class and like Rosalie I imagine much of her education has been preparing her for a future marriage (unlike Edward who was a young man with a career ahead of him and who dreamed of going off to war). What I'm getting at here is that marriage would have been on Edith's mind in a way that it wasn't Edward's, and rather Carlisle being a young man who turns another young man (putting certain aspects of a relationship out of the question for Edward), Edith is a young woman who is changed by a young man of marrying age.
In other words, rather than choose to be his daughter I think Edith would suspect Carlisle had turned himself a bride (as Edward accused him of with Rosalie in canon).
Edith, then, is very hurt, disappointed, and anxious when Carlisle doesn't take her as a bride or even seem to acknowledge the possibility. She's treated like a younger sister or worse even a daughter, and he seems to have no interest in her whatsoever.
Then, Carlisle turns Esme. Esme, who very clearly is in love with Carlisle, is the sweetest woman in the world (far more than moody, brooding, Edith), the perfect wife to Edith who upon becoming a vampire is anything but. (I'm reminded very much of this.) Of course, Carlisle seems perfectly oblivious to her too, but that doesn't change things for Edith or make her feel better.
More, Edith is leading the same miserable life Edward was, denied blood, hating herself and believing herself hideous looking, and I imagine like Edward she leaves.
But I don't think she'd come back.
Even as she comes to hate herself and this way of life, she's not facing the same Carlisle and Esme that Edward was, people who he viewed as parent replacements. She's facing the man who never even thought to love her and the perfect woman who he might very well be married to now.
There's no place for Edith in that world, part of the reason she left, and so she can never go back.
I imagine Edith falls even further into depression and despair, probably gives up on eating the wicked completely and eats regular joe shmoes, and goes to Rio to cry.
As one does.
Would She Have a Better Relationship with Rosalie?
I don't think Edith makes it that far, but if she does, oh god no.
Rosalie is prettier than Edith (debatable but given Edward's insecurity I think I can postulate), very intelligent, socially charming, marrying the richest man in town, and reeks of ambition. Rosalie is a perfect woman in a way that's different but equal to Esme. Edith despises everything about her.
And then Carlisle turns her into a fucking vampire.
And upon transforming she becomes, impossibly, even more beautiful.
And there's Edith, who only just got back from eating rapists for years, finding herself in Carlisle's oblivious harem (as Carlisle doesn't marry this one either and Edith is starting to wonder what the fuck is even wrong with him).
Edith despises Rosalie for being everything Edith herself is not, for being beautiful and knowing it, and for being so goal driven and ambitious.
What if Edith is a Lesbian?
She might not realize she is one.
It doesn't seem something discussed, and despite my thoughts on Edward's sexuality, he does romantically pursue Bella if he seems very hands off about sexual acts with her.
Edward thinks he's straight and so I imagine Edith thinks she's straight and just hasn't found the right man yet (or has in Carlisle, BuT HE KeEps TuRniNG WomEN).
But if she is one and then a knowing one I imagine she's very hostile to Carlisle. I imagine she'd presume that he turned her to be his wife and no matter how much he tries to tell her it's not that and I imagine she leaves very quickly. EDITH OUT.
She doesn't come back.
Is Edith/Rosalie a Viable Pairing?
No, see above. Sorry anon, write the fic.
I would have sworn you already answered that, but I didn't find something about it so: do you think that Bella/Edythe would work? Would they be a healthier couple than Bella/Edward? Would they admit they're dating or would Edythe also pretend they're the closest of friends like Edward would with Beauford?
Who is Edythe Anyway?
I've been told Edythe is less Edward than Edward was but having not read "Life and Death" I really can't make that assumption/can't go off of characters I don't know.
So, like Beauford, we'll make a character Edith, who is Edward in a wig.
Edith is very tall, has bronze/red hair, probably still on the leaner/willowy side of things, and she has all of Edward's Edwardness. I'd get into specifically what that is, but that's five posts at least that have yet to be written on just what the fuck is up with Edward.
So, I think I'll leave exactly what that means up to your imagination.
Do I Think Bella/Edith Would Work?
Yes and no.
Depends what you mean by 'work' and for how long we're setting that time limit.
The first half of Twilight could certainly happen. Edith smells the smell and her world is never the same. At first, she's enraged that this stupid, plain, human is ruining her life but then becomes fascinated. Bella looking the ideal feminine part is just an added bonus.
Edith takes much the same actions as in canon. She stays away, but not really, starts sneaking into Bella's room at night to protect her from spiders, saves her in Port Angeles, and makes her fascination well known.
As in canon, Bella is very flattered that this beautiful, amazing, person is interested in her.
Now, I believe Bella is bisexual but Bella also has the self awareness of a rock. Bella both has no idea she's gay or that Edith is gay for her. This works out because if Edith is Edward, she has the same hangups with her own sexuality and won't be admitting she's gay either.
So they go down the very close 'platonic' friend route, Edith says they're like sisters!
Bella could survive this all the way through most of canon. The trouble comes in Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Bella asks the family to vote on her being turned, Bella wins, she will be turned (Edith goes to smash a TV). In this world, Edith has no leverage for marriage, and nothing really to delay Bella's transformation.
Bella will turn after graduation, in which case either Edith eats her before it can happen, mercy kills her afterwards, or their relationship is completely destroyed.
So I give them a solid year and a half of a 'working' relationship.
Would They Be a Healthier Couple?
No.
The problem with Bella/Edward was not that Edward was a man, it was that he was Patrick Bateman. I see no reason that Bella/Edith will not have exactly the same problems.
Might manifest differently due to Edith having been raised a woman but you're still going to see the gaslighting, the manipulation, the complete disregard of boundaries, the violence, the bloodlust, all those little things that make Edward a great thriller villain.
None of that changed just because Edward is now Edith.
Would They At Least Acknowledge They're Dating?
No, covered above.
Bella has the gaydar and self-awareness of a rock. She doesn't realize she herself is bisexual let alone realize anyone else around her could possibly be gay. Also never having friends or siblings before, Edith saying, "you're like a sister to me", would just make her shrug and go, "Okay!"
As for Edith, she would never, ever, admit what's actually going on anymore than Edward ever would.
Also everyone always says if twilight was lesbian Edward would be a trans woman named Edith I say Edith is cis and BEAU is the trans lesbian nonbinary individual. Or they’re both trans oh twist my arm they can both be trans lesbians. Oh sure just go ahead with that.
