Hi, I hope you don't mind my responding to something you shared in your tags, but you were talking about how bad your period pain is & how doctors never take you seriously. You deserve better! That kind of pain could indicate endometriosis, fibroids, pcos, polyps, thyroid issues or more - you can't know, but it's so important to find out! I know it's exhausting to have to advocate more when doctors aren't doing their jobs right, it's unfair, but please don't give up.

No, I don't mind. I actually have polycystic ovary syndrome, and I have seen many doctors because I had irregular menstrual periods, and somehow my periods are now regular, and the doctors are like well that's good news and all, and I keep telling them my period is still painful, but they are all like, "well you've got pos, it's normal that it hurts, just take ibupofren", but I keep telling them, it does nothing except help with the headaches, and all of them tell me that the ibuprofen has to do something, that it can't be possible that it doesn't help with the period cramps.

The worst part is that they only offer me solutions if I want to get pregnant, becuase they can give me medications to help with ovulating but not to get rid of the pain, just like they also offer me solutions if I feel any pain while having sex, but as an asexual person who has never had sex and doesn't want to, it's basically useless. I still have a yearly appointment to see if my periods are still regular, and every year, I get asked if I have already had sex so they can make some test and give me some medication so they can get rid of the pain I feel during sex.

But no one offers to help me with the pain I feel during my period. It's like, the pain only matters if you're unable to have a baby or if you're experiencing pain during sex. Every doctor I've seen is like, "you have pos, so you have to deal with period pain, but if you want to get pregnant or feel any pain during sex, please come back to see me immediately and I'll help you".

So yeah, it's so frustrating and I'm tired of this. I keep trying on every appointment for someone to listen to me, but it is useless.

Hey ! I started watching Supernatural in 2014-1015, but stopped at s8 or so. When I heard the series was ending, I watched up til mid s12, (+ also the very last episode –still not over that by the way). I only started reading Destiel fanfics this year, and the first one that I read, and one that I'll always remember is "The One Thing You Can’t Lose" (short, extremely fluffy, totally what I love). Then I read "Thursday's child" (found on your site!), this one is truly incredible (read it!)

Thursday’s child has far to go. Spoilers for 5.04, ‘The End’. So I got to wondering: what would have happened if past!Dean hadn’t turned up in 2014, and future!Dean had actually succeeded in killing Lucifer with the Colt? Apparently, it involves lots of angsting. Who knew?

I'd been following bendingsignpost's tumblr for years because I loved his fic in the Sherlock fandom. In 2017 he posted a message asking if anyone would be interested in giving his latest fic a beta read. I contacted him and said I'd love to do that, but when he told me it was an SPN fic, I had to admit I'd never seen the show. I said I'd still be glad to beta if he didn't mind my unfamiliarity, and he said that was fine by him! So beta reading for Cinderwings was my intro to Destiel.  Cinderwings was *such* a masterful and amazing fic, I fell completely in love with the ship and the characters (especially Cas). After that, with the help of a friend who was already a fan, I started catching up on the show from the beginning, and have had the best time joining in the fandom in the years since! Another friend recommended the works of orange_crushed to me very early on, and Fearson's Floating Cigarette was another of my first favorites :)

Hi! I joined the fandom at the tail end of season 8. Gosh it's crazy to think how long it's been a part of my life. The first Destiel fic I ever read was Thursday's Child by strangeandcharm. Not only was it my first Destiel fic, it was the first fic I'd read period. I remember being sucked into this whole new side of fandom, one where the fans get to decide what happens with these two beautiful characters. Thursday's Child set the bar high for me early on in my shipper career XD.

Would you ever write Aubrey/Maturin fic? Or Peter/Harriet? Would you write dinosaurs in a fandom you haven't already written them for, and if so, which one?

Aubrey/Maturin: Probably after I commit to a re-read of the series, which I've been on the cusp of for a while. But when I do: Maturin is a natural history nerd and Aubrey is a mathematics nerd: what's not fun about that? (Well, fun for ME, I don't know about anyone else.)

Peter/Harriet: I've let myself get psyched out that I don't have the kind of Latinate education that would let me write these two; Anglicanism is also one big blank to me. But I need to remind myself that it's not all high culture with them: in Strong Poison Peter quotes Carroll and Gilbert and Sullivan and folk songs, and of course Harriet is a genre writer who later went into advertising/propaganda. All that said, I think I'd rather write the Cattery than Harriet and Peter themselves. (But who wants to read Cattery fic?)

Dinosaurs, gosh. Wonder Woman, maybe, because she'd talk to the dinosaurs and make sure they were happy and safe. (Although I fear I can't improve on the bit of comics canon wherein she did exactly that.) Or Doom Patrol -- dinosaurs would fit into that canon as slick as butter. Or I might shipwreck Aubrey and Maturin in South American, and let THEM find Professor Challenger's Maple White Land...

For the 'fic that sounds like you' meme: An epistolary version of Ritiche-verse Hound of the Baskervilles, in which the sheer terribleness of Holmes's disguises means that Watson knows from the first that he's come along to observe the case, and Watson's exasperated case report letters to him drive a bantery, passive-aggressive, reluctantly flirtatious team effort to take down whatever the Hound turns out to be (because of course Ritchie verse is too Extra to leave it as just a dog).

ACK! I feel, as the children say, so seen. The Hound would almost certainly be a steam punk version of this:

There's a book I loved as a teenager that I think might appeal to you, too. It's The Sherwood Ring by Elizabeth Marie Pope. A young woman goes to live with her uncle at his old New England mansion and encounters the chatty, wry, delightful Revolutionary War era ghosts who haunt the place -- they give her helpful life advice and dish about their romances -- while striking up a friendship with the history grad student who's looking for old family records. It's so charming, I love it.

Samwise Gamgee. He went from a gardener, to a Ringbearer’s companion, to Mayor of Hobbiton. His journey of self-discovery, endurance of hardship, and growth into leadership, is admirable and well worth imitating.

For the 'fic you'd write' meme: A Whitehead Holmes fic about boxing and/or fencing, and how Watson's sparring performance and Holmes's observation become a kind of courtship. My impression from the show was that Whitehead!Holmes has studied or observed, but not practiced, boxing techniques. He has canonically never thrown a punch before, but he also successfully tutors a boxer with Watson doing all the practical demonstration. He also watches Watson fence, with interest. Mmmmmmm?

Hee! I legit have enough opinions about punching that I could indeed write such a fic! (Although I’d have to research Victorian boxing -- there were historical martial artists at Left Coast Sherlock last year who suggested that the rules of boxing were changing just about then. iirc, the Queensberry rules “ruined” Victorian boxing.) ...ahem, yes, as I was saying. ;-)

But you are correct, there is indeed something very interesting happening at the conjunction of those three episodes, and I can see exactly how I might write them into a flirtation and courtship!
