headcanon on where they have their wedding, honeymoon, and where they live once they're married!

it’s probably not brand new headcanon material but they have their wedding in resembool, an early daytime outdoor wedding facing the vast expanse of the  countryside. everyone in town wants to pitch in and help--from old mrs. merriweather offering all the blooms in her precious spring garden for winry’s bouquet to five people offering to build them a venue for the ceremony (everyone is really excited and happy to see that they’re getting together--FINALLY). ed and winry originally planned for a moderate-sized wedding, but as they’re putting together their guest list they realize they have a lot of friends. anyway so the ceremony is beautiful and the wind picks up only once near the end just as they’re saying their vows and winry’s veil smacks ed in the face, but there’s no time to get mad at al and mustang and ling and the chimeras laughing at him because he’s getting married damn it. winry starts crying from the moment ed starts saying his vows and she laughs at him when he’s starting to get that panicked look and she whispers to him “they’re tears of joy, stupid” AND THEN the reception is held at the largest barn around and everyone is having a really great time and nobody notices when ed and winry sneak away and disappear for a really long time and i could keep going but i’ll stop here omg

for their honeymoon i like the idea that they go to aerugo to spend a few days by the sea, and on the way there they check things out in different towns and try good food and they stumble into aerugo’s equivalent of rush valley in a large town in the middle of some mountains and ed has to basically drag winry away because she’s already spending half their honeymoon budget on AUTOMAIL PARTS anyway they have a good time and come back to resembool a few weeks later with a truckload of automail parts and books because these nerds couldn’t contain their interests

after they’re married they stay in resembool for a while, but winry takes trips to rush valley so often (and ed always ends up following after her, though every time she leaves he says he will NEVER go back to rush valley lmao) that they decide to rent out an apartment so they stay there for another while, taking turns going back to resembool so granny doesn’t get too lonely. ed still takes trips to further his research, but he’s never gone longer than a few weeks. they live like this for a pretty long while but after winry has the first baby and not too long after the second one is on the way they decide they want to settle down permanently in resembool, so they give up the apartment in rush valley (which ends up being hard for both of them). and so they end up staying in the yellow house at the top of the hill!

Winry’s a machine junkie living in the non-wizarding world, and she’s really good with her hands--magically good, even. Her magic is used for healing even if she doesn’t realize it. She spends most of her days working in her grandmother’s shop, building automail and fixing things, not really paying attention to how she can sometimes make things...appear or move with little more than a thought.

Ed is an extremely talented wizard whose specialty lies in alchemy and potion-making, self-taught skills he began when he was a child. His early discovery of his powers led to him completing basic wizarding schooling by the age of eleven. He’s spent most of his young life afterwards devoted to his research, travelling constantly to expand his knowledge. He’s in search of something many wizards don’t believe exists.

They meet when Edward is in her hometown looking for the remnants of some valuable alchemical research that belonged to an alchemist who once lived there some decades earlier. A rainstorm hits just as Edward is making his way to the alchemist’s abandoned house, forcing him to seek shelter at a yellow house not far from it, where he meets a tiny old woman who looks at him as if she’s seen a ghost and a young blonde woman who might have just unwittingly left a wrench floating by her hand for all of a second before it lands back on the table she’s sitting at...

au where ed quits hogwarts when he finds out that nicholas flamel is in fact, a real person, and his research is out there, so he and al go on a quest to find him to find a way to restore their bodies to normal after a traumatic magical incident. winry drops out, too, though she continues to learn medical magic from granny and they operate a small clinic in resembool. a new gang of baddies (the homunculi) following a voldemort-like super baddie (father) come into the picture and are after flamel too, and ed gets beat up trying to beat them up and has to come home to be healed after encounters with them. (ed never bothered to learn anything about first-aid medical magic nor has he ever cared to carry healing potions and besides, he’d never admit it to anyone but winry’s always been the best healer he’s ever met)

Headcanon: Winry told Ed she was pregnant the same way Ed told her he wanted to give her half his life: in front of the train station, before he parted for the west, with a lot of screaming and emotions.

OOC: Haha! I can definitely see this happening. Ed screaming something like “What the hell!?!? Why would you tell me this now, before I’m about to leave?” But he would also be overwhelmed with happiness, and just embrace her in a hug. Let’s face it, these nerds just suck at breaking big news to each other.

headcanon where after ed and al realize that winry pierces her ears every time they get her new earrings ed (without al knowing bc hes a shy dork) gets her a charm bracelet and a new charm for it every time he needs her to work on his automail

ed is a supreme dork wow and al’s like da faq bro y didn’t u tell me about this and so of course teasing ensues about so much time and effort you put into this gift for winry, brother! wow!!!! you must think about her a lot!!! and this results in a wrench being pounded into al’s armor and ed stumbling over his comeback which pretty much just ends up being shut the fuck up, alphonse!!but aw that’s cute!!! and there’d be a little wrench charm and a puppy and a pie and then the last one is like a heart by the end of the series and well u know heh

Headcanon: Ed and Winry sit down to watch Shrek together every night <3

The first time Winry saw Ed's impalment scar on his hip, they were going swimming and he had to take off his shirt. After he told her about what happened, she pushed him in the lake so he wouldn't see her cry.

That scar was definitely hard to handle at first, but eventually it became a sign of his survival. 

Plus, it's hard to focus on that scar when there are… other things about him that are much more appealing.

Ed and Winry's daughter is spoiled rotten because she can get whatever she wants from ed b/c he cant say no to her. Winry's more strict and gets mad at ed for giving in all the time but she secretly finds it adorable.

Yes! She would be an absolute doll, but with every person Ed and Winry ever met loving her and a doting father like Ed, there’s no way she wouldn’t be spoiled!
