I always enjoy seeing Medusa in art, and this version is particularly interesting. She seems to have been beheaded by a woman, not by the usual Perseus, and she's splendidly monstrous, looking a bit like the Predator or maybe one of the Mars Attacks! aliens.

Short commentary: I enjoy this so much because the sculpture is Monument to Hallgrímur Pétursson by Einar Jónsson and it lines up in the background with Hallgrímskirkja - the church named after him.

Sketches from the Einar Jónsson Museum in Reykjavík, a wholly fascinating and otherworldly place where I am very glad they forbid people from taking photographs. These statues were all way too much fun to draw.
