the topic never came up in conversation naturally enough for Blaster's liking, and going on the second week of knowing you, it was becoming a rather evident subconscious lie he wished to dispel. he wasn't hiding it because he was necessarily afraid of the reaction, but if it was in any way correlated to how you responded to meeting him for the first time, his company would likely ruffle some feathers, unprompted.
he had ran through several scenarios on what was the best course, deciding that perhaps it was better for all parties to rip the bandage off all in one go. you were compassionate, kind- not one to be uprooted by his best-put: rowdy company, but he wasn’t willing to take any chances on whether that would truly be the outcome. you deserved the whole truth, and Blaster trusted his team more than he believed in himself oftentimes. this was the right thing to do, and he had to set this all in motion before he lost his teams confidence, as well as yours.
perhaps he was more worried about the glaringly obvious reflection that he had been withholding information from quite literally everyone, but that would not be the case.
"Oh!" swallowing your surprise, you let an earnest smile surface at the sight before you. "Hello,"
it wasn't supposed to be an ambush per-say, more of a explanation followed by an introduction, but your early arrival wasn't accounted for into his painstakingly planned schedule. it also didn't help that a full-blown brawl had broken out between Eject and Slamdance either, all whilst you had quietly slipped inside his stranded and destroyed ship, unnoticed for a moment too long for his liking.
Blaster had asked the night prior for you to swing by, it was friendly but there was something clearly troubling him within the delivery. upon his insistence he was fine over the phone, you yielded, deciding that maybe he had something to tell you, but wished to do so in person. you hadn't known Blaster long enough to insist, and didn't feel so confident that you could read him as easily as perhaps a friend you've known for a while. the only striking difference in conversation was his dance around the subject, as well as a more hushed dip in his tone, as if he was trying his best to keep quiet.
now, Rewind heeds your attention first, somewhat cautious as his helm swivels between you and Blaster at his left. when he hops down from his spot leaning against the desk, it disturbs a snoozing Steeljaw beneath the table, the lion pulling its head up from where it was previously nestled between its paws.
"Hello," Rewind hums, to which Blaster halts his mediating with a horrified jolt.
turning around slowly, he finds that Rewind has already almost closed the distance between the two of you, meanwhile Eject and Slamdance suddenly appear to have gone quiet with an unprecedented snap of their jaws. not quite remembering what they were previously squabbling about, this new development seemingly has caught their attention a little more fiercely.
Blaster raises a servo to pinch the bridge of his nose, sensing this was all going to tumble downhill faster than he could get ahead of it. his so-called plan crumbled at his feet, almost loudly taunting him as the situation slipped from his servos and then was unintentionally, but punctually dropped into your lap.
"Hi, y/n." he recovers, a defeated warble to his normally relaxed and even voice. "If you would believe it, I did have this planned a little better, but..."
introductions begin with a few stumbles, though even a stubborn Ramhorn emerges from wherever he was hiding to see what had the rest of the cassettes so noisily chattery.
Eject takes a liking to you immediately, but that is to little surprise of anyone within the room, his overexcited nature extended into new relationships effortlessly.
regarding the rest, there's an air of hesitancy and dare he say shyness, but it's a start he was willing to take. they didn't have to take Blaster's word for it that you were to be trusted, they could uncover their own opinion in time. Blaster had explained you had been helping them out, to which Ramhorn put two and two together regarding their captains nightly disappearance.
Steeljaw circles you twice, approach stern but sleepy, his two usual suspects. all the while, Blaster observes your body language, the words you extend, and the smile that never leaves your face. how you are so positively genuine amongst this chaos is to be noted as an impressive feat, undisputedly excited to meet each of them but still holding back as if to allow them their requested space.
Slamdance shakes your hand, Rewind asks you how your day was.
"I owe you all an apology," Blaster rumbles when the conversations lull. "This was long overdue, just tryin' to find the right time was...well, it wasn't easy."
on his stroll back over to his hiding spot, Steeljaw brushes against Blasters side, grabbing his attention immediately. "You're fine." he thrums, casting a soft expression over his shoulder, entirely in your direction and already displaying his protective nature. "Good job."
If I had a nickel for every 80s transforming robot character named Blaster, I'd have two nickels... Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice.
