Ekidna, Toa Hordika of Water

As a Matoran, Ekidna served as a guard for her village of Ga-Matoran, but was famously incompetent at the role. Out of either kindness, or pity, the rest of the guards chose not to inform her of the cost of her failings, leading Ekidna to believe she was doing no wrong. 

Despite this, the local Toa sensed a potential for greatness in Ekidna, and gave her a Toa stone. As a Toa Zor, Ekidna’s good humor and goofy nature made her a valued member to all but one member of the team, a Toa of Air named Relik. Relik abhorred her presence, and secretly wished she would disappear. When the team ran into a large horde of Visorak, Relik got his wish: During the conflict, Ekidna was captured and dragged far away while the rest of the team was forced to retreat. Ekidna was later mutated by their venom.

As a Hordika, Ekidna’s humor and optimism kept her new bestial side at bay, allowing her to quickly learn to control her new powers. What incompetence she had in combat before is gone, replaced with animal instinct and reflexes, making her far stronger than she was before. She is now a member of Toa Kaaze’s team, “The Misfits”, and serves an important role: keeping everyone’s moral high.

Spotted two echidnas lying on their side in the middle of the road today. When I drove nearer, they jumped up and scurried off into the bush. TIL ekidnas risk potential death just to get a warm belly.

Teringat dulu saat mempelajari perkembangabiakan pada hewan. Salah satu bagiannya adalah mammalia yang berkembangbiak secara beranak (vivipar) dengan pengecualian ada jenis mammalia yang aneh, bertelur atau ovivar. Guruku memberikan contoh mammalia yang berkembang biak secara bertelur adalah Platipus (platypus). Platipus, dan bukan Ekidna yang justru hewan asli Indonesia.
