I always wondered what Lucien may have felt when he reached the end of Elain’s bond, and what Elain may have meant when she said that all she needed was sunshine. A future built off of the backs of two people seemingly lost in this world who found their way to one another. (Ft. Grandpa’s sunshine)

So many people- both in the story and in the fandom- underestimate Elain. They think she’s meek, plain, boring. They look at her as a damsel in distress, who needs a man to save her.

But what if, in the next book, it’s Elain that does the saving? What if it’s Azriel that is the damsel in distress, lured in by Koschei, much like the Snow Queen retelling SJM has alluded to?

We love to think that Solstice wasn't the last time that Azriel listened to Elain, enraptured as she told him about her garden plans. 

Imagine them some time in the future, cozy in their sleep clothes, comfortable and safe together. No matter how many times Elain pulls out her journal to tell him about her new plans, Azriel melts at her enthusiasm and joy and wonder-filled voice and takes in every word like each one is a gift.

Our strong, quiet dreamer of a flower girl deserves nothing less.

Happy Day One of Elain Week!

For Travels, I wanted to create a little moodboard that embodied her energy, and how I imagined what Elain travelling would look like. It's cute to imagine her stopping to admire the flowers she's maybe never seen before on the continent, using some to make potions or poultices...the possibilities are endless!
