Thanks to @herecirmsims for tagging me. It’s the last day of MerMay so why not another iteration of my pixel son as a mermaid. I’ve been listening to a lot of scary mermaid conspiracies so it’s fitting.

1-5 for two characters of your choice for the oc ask 😄🐇

Doing Maddie this time, don't think I've done her yet for one of these!

1. How would they define love if asked

I think she'd define it as either a sword in your hand or a waste of time.

2. When someone says "this is [character name] coded," what comes to your mind

Someone who doesn't give a fuck about anything except killing, or someone mouthy. She's both. XD

3. if somebody told the character that they admire them what would they feel and how would they react to it

I think she'd probably not think much of it, or make a sarcastic or witty comment about it.

4. How much weight do they give to others' opinions of them

None at all. Maddie does what she does and does not ask permission!

5. When bad things happen, do they usually think it happened to them or because of them

Maddie isn't the 'woe is me' type, but she does blame most things on witches, so I would guess the former. She doesn't really acknowledge what she's doing as bad.

And the second character, let's go with someone different this time - Shepherd Julian, the Eye of Jacob of the Jacoban Cathedral.

1. How would they define love if asked

I'm not sure - the Jacobans don't really do anything out of love, they do it out of fear of what's to come. Maybe he'd think love is too Peteran or something, haha.

2. When someone says "this is [character name] coded," what comes to your mind

I guess anything religious in a dark sense.

3. if somebody told the character that they admire them what would they feel and how would they react to it

I think he would take it as a compliment. He wants to be a trusted figure in his community and wants to guide people, so I think he'd be genuinely thankful and feel like he's done his job.

4. How much weight do they give to others' opinions of them

Not very much. Even when his own people start turning on him, Julian sticks to his guns when provided with new information even knowing it could cost him the position he's held proudly for over fifty years.

5. When bad things happen, do they usually think it happened to them or because of them

To them. ABSOLUTELY to them. Julian is himself responsible for a good chunk of the anti-witch furore, but if anything bad happens, there's 2 people the Jacobans will blame - the Watcher (often 'sent to try us' or 'as punishment', which is what they think witches are, a sort of punishment or test of faith) or the witches.

Who does your OC envy and why?

Being a career spy and being in a committed relationship doesn't often end well. There are a lot of threats to happiness and security. You never get to relax, loved ones become the ultimate weakness and the ultimate weapon against you. If, like Dick, you're in the business of social coercion there's another layer of complications you have to deal with. Compartmentalizing part of yourself in order to use people and be used in return is a big part of the job. Putting yourself and your target in compromising situations in order to gather information, gain the upper hand, etc etc. So you essentially lose a good chunk of yourself to the job. I think Dick envies civilians. Townies whose biggest problem is the price of eggs. Even if he doesn't sees himself as someone that would want to build a family, after years of service part of him yearns for that sense of security. Being able to give yourself wholly to someone and not have to worry about anyone being stabbed sounds like a pretty sweet deal. His life has become incredibly transactional, and my man is tireddddd.

Wondering by Good Charlotte Mystress was written by Axel about Envy UwU. It's a promise to her that's he'll be there no matter what happens between them. (And they sing it together when they perform it as seen here)

They've only kissed the once. And have never gone further than that.

They're both pansexual 🤸‍♂️

Envy no longer feels hurt about Axel rejecting her back when they were in HS, she very much thinks that he was right. Axel still kinda regrets not giving it a chance then, but so long as Envy is in his life SOMEHOW- he's a happy dude :D

They will not in fact wait until they're 40 to circle back to their pact.

📖 - fave book not a book persay but an essay... "our need for consolation is insatiable" by stig dagerman 😵‍💫 had me in absolute tears reading it. That or one of his short stories, "To kill a child" - INSANE writing in that one.

📻 - fave song currently thanks to one of my friends, ive been getting into the beatles, but ive been getting into george harrison myself lately so prolly cloud nine or fish on the sand by him :)

📝 - fave quote THIS one is hard because... i have a lot of faves, but one i'm thinking of lately is from this post . which is "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow". I think it's simple, lovely and prospective (if thats the right word idk LMAOO)

my favorite part of rendering absolutely hands down is setting up lighting. i will sit there and tweak my set up for HOURSSSS trying to get the perfect vibe and coloring down. but i also love detailing like making eyes and metal reflective and skin glossy its sooo satisfying watching it all come together and rly amplify the realism. and also building sets........i rly like rendering as u can tell LMAO

my least favorite.........all the technical stuff i gotta do to be able to apply separate textures to parts of an outfit/the body. its just too tedious and i wish i could figure out a way to streamline it any better lol

my favorite edit i've ever done is definitely this one. i'm not even sure why tbh - it's one of the few that turned out exactly how i wanted. & it's been my phone background for nearly a year now lol

i'm really proud of this one (& the monster boyz in general) as well! i made the VHS overlay myself which was somehow both more & less challenging than i thought it would be.

i thought this one came out pretty cool too, honestly! it was my first kind of attempt at getting back into photo sets after not doing them for a while & it was really fun!

& lastly, for something not render-related but still OC-related: this drawing i made last year! it was the first & only time i've ever drawn all of the kids together & i'm never doing it again :-)
