Republican Senators resuming the electoral certification after the siege:
I cannot believe congress going blue isn't the biggest news today
Just one more footnote in the crazy-tops-crazy political layer cake that I was thinking about while decluttering my mental queue of today's Capitol Hill developments: members of Congress are on social media thanking their staffers, who risked their necks to secure electoral college ballots when the Congress was under threat, literally breached.
Why, why do we operate in a system where we dive into the potential line of fire to save electoral college ballots when we have already tallied the will of the people! And why is it the staffers, not unlike essential workers, with the presence of mind to do it? Is that not a microcosm summation of the current social-political cluster**** that brought us here?
Thus, kudos to Ed BAMF Markey for immediately calling for Trump's impeachment and the abolition of the electoral college!
Watching heated congressional debates are so weird sometimes.
They'll pull out a pocket constitution as if nobody has seen one before despite literally everyone in that room having the exact same copy. They will repeat the exact same shit that the person just before them said as if it's an entirely new thought while adding absolutely no new information to the argument. They will all speak as if the very radiance of the Spirit of Lincoln is shining out of their ass and nobody else's.
It's like watching a group of people masturbate in front of a mic and then voting on which group has the stickiest spooge.
I never wanna hear another Northerner piss on the South for ruining this country when it was a man from Pennsylvania who fucked up the electoral certification.
Yeah, the South does fucking suck. We know that, but y'all will never even acknowledge the shit you're dragging through the house on your own damn shoes.
Scalise (R-Louisiana) yelling that “you don’t get to go around the constitution! That’s not how it’s done! You can’t just go to the courts when things don’t go your way!” while arguing that Congress should disregard the will of the voters is ironic to the point of absurdity
