Hey guys, it's me again.

I wish I was back with good news for once, but I'm not. It's more of the same. We've contacted a lawyer about my spouse's workman's comp issues (we're seeking lost wages, but no idea how long it'll take bc they work for a rather large-ish company) Anyway, I'm asking because it's us and three kids in the house. Our Electric bill is subject to disconnect again. The amount due is $226.31. I'm sorry to keep doing this, but I'm out of options and we don't get another paycheck until May 28, and I really don't want to have to go without power until then. The Energy and Commerce Committee's top Democrat is one of the highest-ranking lawmakers supporting the policy.

Nobody likes data centers except billionaire broligarchs who want taxpayers and electric company customers to fund them.

Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ-06) is proposing a nationwide moratorium on data centers.

House Energy and Commerce ranking member Frank Pallone of New Jersey on Wednesday called for Congress to impose a nationwide data center moratorium. Pallone is now the most powerful congressional Democrat with jurisdiction over energy and environment issues to support such a policy in the face of public backlash. Pallone’s statement came at the beginning of an Energy Subcommittee session to vote on more modest legislation that seeks to make sure ratepayers don’t foot the bill for data center expansion. “Americans across the county have expressed concern and opposition to the rampant construction of AI data centers, and Congress should take this political groundswell seriously with a data center moratorium,” Pallone said. Pallone’s stance complicated the path for the Ratepayer Protection Act — or something like it — to become law anytime soon and positioned Pallone in alignment with progressives and environmental advocates seeking stricter oversight of data center development.

Hiiii so my electric bill is waaay more expensive than I thought it would be, due to this being the first year I'm dealing with my landlord having installed electric baseboard heaters and I really need help. (And the options naturally being freeze or go into debt wheeee) if anyone could throw some change my way I could legit send back a screenshot (with identifying info sanded off) as proof it went towards thar if necessary.
