The Beauty and The Tragedy // Falkner X Winona (Early Teens)

The hotel room's bed offered little comfort for the blunette as he laid against the slab of cloth. A ceiling fan provided a humming commentary to his thoughts as he stared at the ceiling, he was in Fortree City. Falkner was invited to go with his father to the annual Bird Master's Convention, a yearly meeting held in the town of a Flying Type Gym Leader. This year's was Winona's own hometown, she had been Gym Leader for about two years since the death of her parents making her the youngest Bird Master of them all. However, her worthiness was rightly proven. Trainers didn't always leave her gym with a badge, and the ones that did still had tears in their eyes from a harsh battle...

The Winona that Falkner knew sounded drastically different than the one he was hearing about now. She was a nice girl he had met once upon a time when she and her father came two years ago to  Violet City for an emergency meeting. The first thing that he noticed about Mr. Nagi was how bedraggled he looked, the next was how angry and solemn her daughter looked. The children were left outside while a discussion was held in the gym, Winona scowled at the door whenever her father cried out, she didn't seem too pleased with his behavior. However Falkner tried his best to cheer up Winona and try to be her friend.

His efforts were rewarded as Winona seemed to warm up to him. The two of them walked around Violet City exchanging stories and talking about their Pokemon. He even treated her to some of the snacks from his own collection, she ate some even though she said that "Grown ups aren't supposed to eat candy." Falkner didn't know what she meant by this but was just glad that she was taking his offering. Their friendship seemed to be starting off on a good foot, this was short lived however. When Falkner worked up to courage to ask where her mother was, Winona's eyes grew steely and even a little wet. She threw her hair back and called her father, they already spent too much time here anyways. Falkner watched curiously as her father slowly made the way out of the gym, if he were to speak like that to his dad a strict punishment would be enforced on him right away. 

[The Present]

The ceiling fan continued it's monologue, here he was two years later. He wondered how Winona had changed. His father came in and told him the meeting would start soon so be ready to leave. Falkner nodded and held onto a notebook with a pen, not everyone wrote down what was said at the conference but Falkner liked to record as much wisdom as he could. He stepped out of the treehouse and was met with the humid Hoenn air, something that a Johto-boy like him wasn't accustomed to yet! A loud cheer forced its way into Falkner's ears, he quickly glanced around and caught sight of a girl with lilac hair. Winona!

He hurried across the treetop bridges of Fortree. It had been a long time since they last saw each other, would she still recognize him? "Winona!" Falkner yelled and waved his hand, "Winona over here!". As if by some miracle, his voice carried itself over the rancorous crowd to catch her attention. He smiled at her but her eyes had shown no sign of recognition, when he finally caught up to her he held out his hand.

"Hey Winona, how have you been? Do you remember me?"

A Wing and a Prayer II Tate and Winona

It was summer in Hoenn, when the sea air is chrisp and the flora is lush. A time when many tourists come to visit the beautiful tropical environment and enjoy the great wonders that Hoenn has to offer; a time when Tate liked to hide out at home and ignore all the commotion going on outside. Though as much as he would have liked to spend his summer on his computer and with his pokemon, his job told him otherwise; dragging him out to entertain challengers' notions of gaining a mind badge.

He opened up his laptop to check his email and sure enough there was an official message from the pokemon league there waiting for him in his inbox. With a heavy heart, he nervously opened it up:

"Attention all Pokemon League faculty. A special tournament will be held in Lilycove in celebration of the beginning of Heonn's, Summer Pokemon League Festival. All faculty are encouraged to participate, though pokemon league gym leaders and elite four members are required to do so. The battles will begin one week from today.

We look forward to seeing you all there! Prize listing and registration will be at the Lilycove Depertment Store."

"Hurray...", Tate let out with a sigh.

Leaning back in his chair, he looked up at the ceiling and let out a grunt. There goes his ideas of enjoying some quiet time before his days were filled with gym matches and training. Messing up his hair in frustration he tried to focus on some silver-lining to his situation. Based on the requirements listed in the email, the only trainers ranked higher than him were Juan, Sidney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Drake. This placed him in the middle of the required participants... so he doubted he would stand out much. Especially if the elite four were also required to attend. They were likely only there to hype up challengers to participate and bring in more registrations. Pokemon League's got to get their funding from somewhere, guess this is a good stunt to get people excited about it.

"Oh...", he said as he realized something. The safari zone was not to far from Lilycove, and it would be a good idea to explore there and better his team before the matches begin.

With a smile on this face, Tate grabbed his things and started packing. A few pokeballs and some basic supplies for being in the safari zone were all he needed. He wanted to arrive in Lilycove as early as possible, giving him the most time to find new pokemon, so as soon as his bag was packed, and he cleaned himself up a bit, he went down and told his mother about the tournament and that we would be leaving for it early. She smiled and wished him luck as he headed out to catch the next the next ferry leaving Mossdeep; Solrock happily floating behind him.

CAW!! || Brawly & Winona

The sweat was bucketing off of him, running like a madman along the path towards Fortree. It’s not easy to keep a physique like Brawly’s; lot’s of running, training, dieting... okay maybe not that last one as he tends to eat like a goddamned pig. But, I digress. Point is being buff is bloody hard work. Which is why Brawly keeps to a strict training regiment; every week, he takes to running from Rustboro to Lilycove, give or take his distractions. Unfortunately it does leave him with quite a pong afterwards... And despite his ladies-man persona, this definitely isn’t a turn on.

Anyways, like I said before; the blue haired badass himself is nearing the end of his journey, taking a stop in Fortree. Usually in the gym towns he tries to stop in to say hello to the Gym Leaders along the way except they’re usually always busy, bar for the crazy coot Wattson. It’s no harm, kind of comes with the job. Brawly got lucky as his gym is in a pretty remote location, so he’s got time to dawdle about. But again, not the point! As he approaches the treetops of Fortree, he hopes of seeing Winona about. Probably not one of the few he’d particularly get along with, considering she can be super serious but it doesn’t hurt to at least make the effort right?

Finally, he reaches Fortree with heavy gasps for air. Non stop running from Mauville to Fortree can get pretty damn tiring, even if you have done it for Arceus knows how many years. Now would be a good time to rest for the little ol’ fighter! With a steady stride still, he moves himself into the Pokemon Center. And whadd’ya know, guess who’s standing in there at the counter with the aviator cap on! Brawly rushed up to her, despite being extremely out of breath and grabbed her from behind, lifting and hugging her and probably soaking her with sweat aswell.

“’Ey, featherbrain!” He cries out with joy, hugging her extremely tightly before plopping her down on the ground again. Playfully, he also lifts her cap off her head an ruffles her hair, all while bearing his happy little smile that he’s known for. “Where ya been, bird-butt? Ya avoidin’ me or summin’? Heh!”

Faster than Clouds || Winona x Brendan

It was a sunny, and cool day in the Hoenn Region. Brendan was back in his home region to relax, and actually run some errands that he promised his Mom to do when he got back from his journey. So he was off, going from city to city delivering and receiving packages. He was like a courier, Brendan, Master Courier. Accompanying him was his most trusted bird companion, Cloud the Altaria. 

They were on their way to Fortree City, delivering a package that was for the Pokemon Center there. Soaring high above the sky, Brendan and Cloud were dashing through the skies, breaking sound barriers! Reaching Mach speeds! Sugoi...! "Alright Cloud, let's make this a quick delivery and then head bac--" he began before he was cut off by a quick, lightning dash right next to him. Brendan and Cloud were both shocked. What was that exactly?

"What the hell was that?" Brendan asked himself as he peered off into the distance. Was it another person? No, it couldn't be. There was no one faster than Cloud, except... Brendan focused in as what seemed to be a cloud-like Pokemon. Another... Altaria? he pondered. Now, who was it that exactly taught Cloud to fly? To reach the speeds who could reach now? There was only one explanation.

With a huge smile Brendan shouted to Cloud, "C'mon Cloud! Dash off and catch up to that Altaria!" Exactly when he said that, Cloud realized who it was as well. With a great cry he dashed off, going as fast as he could to reach up to the bird Pokemon. He managed to catch up, and lined up next to the Altaria, Brendan's prediction was right! It was Winona! While going at this speed, it was hard to get her attention. She was focused on flying.

"Winona!" Brendan cried out while waving his arms out, trying to get her attention.
