PSA: Religion
Hello everyone, we’ve gotten alot of asks about our religions. We have answered enough about that and our religions alltogether and y’all should respect that. I get it - it’s hard to understand as a middle eastern muslim that someone who is middle eastern is something else than muslim. But we exist and we don’t have to answer all your questions about our religions just because you are curious and asked for the 100th time. Muslims and especially sunni muslims can shut their entitled asses up and let go. -Honor
The Gazi massacre took place from the 12th till the 15th of March 1995, in the Gazi district a predominantly Alevi district, in Istanbul.
March 12th 1995 Three cafes, a cake shop and a cem house were attacked by anonymous people, during these attacks 61 year old Pir Halil Kaya was killed and 25 people were injured. People started gathering due to these attacks because the police was responding late to the attacks, the gathered group was walking towards the Police Station as a reaction. The Police was reacting very aggressivly and started shooting into the group resulting in the death of Mehmet Gündüz and many more injured people.
March 13th 1995 People from all over Istanbul were rallying together and an estimated 15.000 people gathered again in front of the Police Station. The riot squad and a special team joined the police and once again the police was shooting into the crowd. These shootings triggered a clash between police force and the protestors. 15 more people died and a high number of people got injured. The same day a ban was put in place by the government so that people from the Gazi, Zübeyde Hanim and Esentepe districts weren’t allowed to go on the streets. Also the entrances to these districts were heavily contolled by police force.
March 14th 1995 People still got out even with the ban in place. Wich was answered by military presence from the government. The mass that gathered in front of the cem house was putting up a request list with four conditions: 1) Provision of the funerals 2) To end the Ban that prohibits to go on the streets 3) To free the Detainees 4) The removal of the military presence and the police force These conditions were of course denied. In addition to the protests in the Gazi district people also gathered in Ankara in Kızılay Square where 36 people were wounded.
March 15th 1995 The events spread to Umraniye and Mustafa Kemal district, which resulted in another 5 deaths and many more injured. This resulted in a ban in these districts as well.
March 16th 1995 The Governour of Istanbul Hayri Kozakçıoğlu declared that the events appeased and removed the ban from all districts.
This massacre resulted in 23 deaths and over 1000 wounded people. It is believed that the initial attacks were carried out by the grey wolves and that the police was heavily infiltrated by grey wolves as well.
Trial Adem Albayrak was initally charged 96 years in prison for the murder of four people but his charge was reduced to six years and eight months Mehmet Gündoğan was initally charged 48 years for murdering two people but his charge was reduced to three years and nine months. Even though both were recorded shooting in the crowds, their charges were postponed and revoked by the Supreme Court. The case was reopened and both got a penalty for six years and 8 months in total, which was approved by the Supreme Court in 2002.
