A month ago @limicross drew this cute elf for me and I want to give them something back so I wrote this fanfic for you. Hoping that you like and sorry for the bad title and my grammatical errors, but I wanted to show my support in your art and this was the only way I know.
You can read it under the cut or in AO3.
Lullaby For A Snake.
Chapter One.
The warm touch of the sun warmed his body but even if it was lukewarm also made him frown and half-open one of his eyes. He got up lazily, carving his eyes to remove residue of dreams. The elf looked in the nest. His mate was not at his side. The young elf gave a heavy sigh. Recalling that just yesterday, his mate had said there would be a meeting of his kind and it was important his presence.
Both don’t like being separated for long. Not after so many years together.
The elf sighed and rises from the nest, hidden in the undergrowth. The best to forget that his mate was not, it would go walking through the vast forest. Most of the time he was always accompanied by his mate but he could never go alone into the woods. The best would be to take this occasion.
With the same caution as many times before he left his home hidden in the undergrowth. The Nagas are very dangerous creatures and therefore were highly sought. Half-snake and half-humanoid. But he knew that if anyone tried to harm his mate, they wouldn’t escape uninjured from their battle against a giant snake.
The elf began his journey, glancing at the sky he watched the sun was just half the sky.
It must be noon, the elf thought. That meant he had to return to his nest before the sun went down and the sky will start dyed red. He didn’t want to worry his mate and the Naga would cause a tragedy in the forest.
The elf wandered for a few minutes in the woods. He is agile climbing trees so he didn’t hesitate a moment to look the taller and stronger tree and begin to climb it. Very soon he had the entire view of the whole forest. It was curious that he always liked climbing trees, when the way in which his partner called him was “Sapling”, “Little Tree” or “Pine Tree”; He couldn’t remember if he ever had an Elvish name. The Naga’s name is Cipher but he seemed to like it more when he called him by the name of “My Mate”. But more than anything he remembered with passion when Cipher had given him a name, a name thanks to seven gold dots on his forehead, “Dipper”.
He watched the leaves of some treetops become yellow. Almost golden, like Cipher's hair and scales. He would have liked to see this view with him. Perhaps at some other time.
The elf before going down and return to penetrate between the branches of trees observed the human village who lived far from the forest. His mate had always told him not approach humans. Although he was like them, Dipper knew that the village quickly notice a stranger. Even when the Naga had not spoken about approaching humans, all in the forest knew they were dangerous.
The elf came down from the treetop and decided it was better to be hidden among the branches. Perhaps he would gather some fruit. Cipher loves mangos. He spent a long time gathering the delicious fruit. Most food Dipper ate was the meat of the prey that Cipher hunted for both.
Dipper ran his hand through his hair, a salty drops of sweat fell from his forehead. The heat of the sun had risen. His lips felt dry and cracked. The fruit would spoil if he didn’t find water. Although he could wait to get to his nest and the brook that was nearby, but it may be a little late.
He must find some source of water.
Near him he could hear the water fall. He had found a waterfall! What a good new.
The young elf walked more quickly to where he could hear the water running freely.
The water falling on a pond, the water was so clear that even he could see the bottom of the pond and even some fish swimming. All around were beautiful flowers. A few months ago it had been rainy season, so the rain had sprouted some flowers. Dipper came up and with his hand he felt the water temperature. A sigh of relief appeared on his face when he felt the water was cool.
With both hands he took some water and drank it, his throat thanked him instantly. With another small amount of water he washed his face removing the sweat and allowing the water to refresh him.
Crack.
Elf ears moved at the sound of a branch breaking. Oh no, he had out too far of the forest area watched over by magic. He was too close to the humans village.
Then something moved in the bushes. Dipper was ready to attack, even when he had left his javelin in his nest he had his magic, it was not as powerful as Cipher's magic, but at least he could knock out his opponent. He waited for whatever it will appear, make fastest
Something or better said, someone jumped out of the bush.
“I have you!” A little girl jumped from the bush with a small pig in her hands. The little girl laughed, but when she looked up her eyes met the elf’s.
Dipper dropped his hands. That threat was only a human child, perhaps eight to ten human years.
His first reaction was to run. If there was a human girl near here, then her parents were also here. Dipper turned to back enter the forest before more human appeared.
“Wait!” The girl got to her feet, releasing the pig and running toward the elf taking his hand.
Dipper stayed in his place, the little girl watched him with intrigue and admiration?
The girl made Dipper down to her height and watched him directly into his eyes, “Are you a fairy?”
Fairy? Why compare him with those annoying maidens of the forest?
Dipper denied shaking his head.
The human girl said “Oh.” But strangely she didn’t look disappointed.
Cipher had explained that children, either of any kind, are more innocent. That soft infant aura that he could see around this girl was the most colorful.
“So…” The little placed her hand under her chin in a pensive mood. When she seemed to have an idea she snapped her fingers and her eyes twinkled. The elf felt his hand was pressed hard by small hands. “I know how to discover who you are! Come with me to my house, there has a book with many drawn creatures.”
If the creatures and humans could speak the same language he had said that he is an elf, however, see that gleam in the eyes of the little girl, well, it sounded strange but reminded him when he was a little elf, after being found by Cipher, and run through the vast forest to discover its secrets. And he just could not help feeling curious at the idea of a human village. Even when he knew he had to return to his nest before Cipher returned, he let himself be guided by the human girl.
“By the way my name is Mabel.”
Mabel? That strange name fit perfectly with the strange girl.
Before the human walk to the village Dipper stopped, the elf had almost forgotten that no one must know of his existence. “What's happening to you?” Mabel asked, “Oh I understand. Maybe we can go directly to my home through the forest.”
The house she was referring to was a small two-story cabin. Dipper frowned when he smelled the incense on the porch of the house. It was a scent to ward off spirits.
Mabel noticed his discomfort and released his hand to go running to put out the incense. “I am sorry. Usually Grunkle Ford turned on only at night. I like it because it smells like coconut.”
Dipper raised an eyebrow, what is a Grunkle Ford?
“I'll let you in my room while I go by the book.” Mabel returned to his side, returning to be a guide, they went up the stairs, walking down a hallway to be in front of a door and enter the room. “Wait here for me, okay?” And with that she returned by the previous way down the hall.
Dipper watched Mabel's room. There were too many animals in the nest of the little girl. Dipper took one in his hands, they were soft. A part of him was glad that they were not real animals of the forest.
A small table with hundreds of colorful sticks and a book with pages of colored drawings. In it he could see that on the first page was Mabel and two people, a man and a woman, and the next she was with two older men.
Her father and mother and... The thing called Grunkle Ford?
“I came back! And brought cookies!” Mabel crooning as she walked into her room, a bowl and a book in both hands.
Dipper took Mabel’s sketchbook and he showed the girl both images, for an explanation.
She watched the first drawing with nostalgia, “They are my mom and dad. They died three years ago.”
Dipper could understand why Mabel was sad, he had not known his parents, he was separated from them when he was very young, when clan wars were very difficult to avoid. The elf pointed to the next image.
“This is better.” Mabel smiled again but slightly, “I am with my two Grunkles. Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford.”
Dipper tilted his head and looked the picture. Grunkles is another way of saying new parents?
“Come, I want to know what magical creature you are.”
Mabel walked to her strange nest and a jump she fell on the bed, sitting and accommodate the book on her lap. Dipper followed her example, only without jumping, and he sat beside her. This nest was very soft, apparently all around Mabel was soft.
The girl opened the book and he stared, with wide eyes, the creatures that were recorded. It was incredible that all creatures which they lived in the forest were in this book.
“Now, perhaps in the humanoids section.” Mabel flip through the book quickly reaching the desired category. “Druids. Witch. Nymphs. Arachnes. Gnomes...”
Dipper wanted to ask how the girl's Grunkle knew all this. So he tried to stop every page, pointing to information that was written in the language of humans.
“Do you mean to how he knows all this? My Grunkle Ford likes these issues about creatures in the woods. Besides, he tells me that we should have our eyes wide open to the world before us.”
Grunkle Ford seemed a very wise man. Now he understood the reason why she had not fled from his presence.
“Pixies,” Mabel continued leafing through the great book, “Bingo! You're an elf! A cute elf! I should have known by your pointy ears.” Mabel stood up on her bed and touched the end of the ear.
Dipper laughed at the persistence of this child. And taking her in his arms he put her on the floor.
“Do you have a name? Oh silly me. We don’t speak the same language, I often came to forget for a moment I thought you were just mute. But you can write, can't you?”
Write, yes. In her language, no.
Dipper shook his head.
“Oh. Then can you tell me how to pronounce your name?”
He had never spoken to a human. Heck, he could be the first elf to speak with one.
But seeing that look, that soft glow in the eyes of the human child, he could not deny that innocent request.
Mabel observed the elf kneeling at her height and his hand moved to his forehead, revealing seven golden dots.
“Dipper.”

The meeting had been deferred more than he would like. If he could he'd stayed all day with his little sapling, whether they are in their nest or hunting.
The animals were stood aside when the tail of golden scales across their path, the top half was human and with a simple hiss everyone could feel the danger of making any impertinent act in his presence.
The Naga continued his already used way to the deep of the forest, where he could meet his little elf.
Cipher felt more relaxed when he entered to his territory. In the distance the Naga managed to spot the nest that was inside a hollow tree.
The Naga came through with surprise seeing that his Pine Tree was not in the nest, sleeping, eating or practicing magic,
Pine Tree was not there to hug him.
Pine Tree was not there to kiss him.
Pine Tree was not in his nest.
The Naga came out of the hollow tree, waiting for a couple of minutes that the elf returned, but there was no sign of him.
The sun was setting.
Pine Tree knew it was dangerous to be in the woods without him when it was night.
What if something had happened to him?
Pine Tree was untouchable!
Throughout the forest, everyone knew that he was the most powerful being and that if anyone had dared to touch his mate, they would suffer terrible and horrifying consequences that would make them ask for death barely see him to his eyes.
The Naga being guided of the aroma of the elf arrived to the pond. Cipher covered his nose to discover a sweet smell. Combined with a spell to repel spirits. Cipher only had to put two and two and his conclusion was finished.
The humans had been here.
The humans had been near his Pine Tree! Near his mate!
Anger soon captured the Naga and his body was covered completely from golden scales. The giant snake opened its mouth showing sharp fangs that gleamed like ivory daggers, poison seeped at the ends falling to the forest floor and killing what this touched. His golden eyes focused on the lights of the human village.
Yeah, this looks like a good day. I love eldritch monsters and dragons, so I said, why not combine the two? I just want to mention that this Drabble, was an idea that I reject from my dragon AU I'm writing. No this is not a spoiler, it was just an idea that did not fit the story.
Notes and Warnings: Eldritch&Dragon!Bill (Is this possible?) Elf!Dipper, Bill is super protective of Dipper so fight me! Violence. I wanted this to be fluffy, I do not succeed!
Gold and Red.
Dipper had been training until the afternoon had begun to fall in the picturesque forest, the orange rays of sunset painted the landscape, announcing the forest creatures that the night would come.
Walking to his small home in the mountains, he was surrounded, these monsters were kind of wild boar with humanoid form. They attacked right and left, Dipper had managed to damage them but even with injuries, they continued fighting was as if they did not have a shred of reasoning in their minds. Only wildness.
It was then that one of them hit him from behind leaving him off guard. Four of them took down his neck and arms. The biggest, apparently the leader, took his knee and tore the cloth of his pants, leaving his leg exposed.
Clearly remembered as one of the fangs of those monsters had embedded in his leg, drawing blood. It was his piercing scream that drew Bill to the scene. Dipper will never forget that day.
When his scream finished echoing in the forest, the place was silent for a moment and again be filled with the terrifying roar of a beast. Only then Dipper knew that these creatures had no salvation.
One of the wild boars monsters shrieked and pointed his finger at a point in the sky; At least now he knew they had some emotions than a voracious appetite for human and raw meat.
A silhouette approaching flying quickly to where they were and falling on the forest floor, leading several trees around it. The wild boars viewed the horrifying dragon's body.
The dragon was golden as if it were made of gold and bathed in the rays of the sun, a pair of giant wings that could leave them in darkness, the golden dragon had six plump and heavy legs with a single footstep he could create an earthquake, they were as dangerous as the claws that were shown, sharp as swords. The tail, like the whole body seemed dangerous, sharp scales that could cut you in two if they hit you, ending in a deadly tip that could pierce and give you end in seconds. Although what terrified the wild boar was the face of the creature, the dragon had two jaws, one above the other, dangerous and pearl fangs glowed in the dark caverns, each had a tongue, red as blood and too long, saliva dripping from fangs. The most terrifying was the only eye was in the middle of the forehead, having a total view of his surroundings.
Bill was an abomination for monsters but for him, the eldritch dragon was the most amazing, fascinating and beautiful.
With fear the monsters pigs forgot Dipper and ran deep into the depths of the forest.
The demon had been sleeping, as usual, waiting for his mate returned from his training. The little elf wanted to be just as powerful as him in magic, so since the Sun appeared to noon, his elf came to train and come back when it's time to eat, then they could talk and continue their journey, they always traveling, they never stayed in one place. But noon came and his elf had not returned, sometimes this was nothing new, Pine Tree was very forgetful time. The demon doubted anyone would dare to harm his elf. The beautiful creature had his essence through his body. Oh well, that thought when he heard his mate's piercing cry. The air suddenly smelled blood. Bill's mind went off and let his instincts come out, changing his human body to his true form.
When Bill saw Pine Tree on the forest floor, blood dripping from his leg and being touched by these despicable creatures, Bill's rage increase.
Dipper watched the monsters running. Was useless, the elf thought, there was nowhere to run when Bill was upset and in his true form.
The eldritch dragon took with his mouth, taking care with fangs, his elf placing him in a strong and thick branch thereby preventing that some dirty and repulsive creature damaged him. The smell of blood again flooded his nostrils, a dangerous growl escaped him, later he would heal Pine Tree's wound, now he had to make those bastards pay.
Dipper saw his mate turn back into the woods and start his hunt. Well, Dipper now only have to cook for him.
The first screech came after he finished his first thought. Dipper quickly covered his ears strongly when others shrieks appeared in the forest. He hated this, when Bill was hunting, he always played with his food.
The shrieks disappeared and the elf discovered his ears, listening to footsteps coming toward him. The dragon had appeared again, his claws were covered with blood like some golden scales. Ugh, Dipper thought, now I have to give him a bath.
The dragon turned toward him and with the same care as last time, he left Dipper back on the floor. His eye focused on the wound that was on Pine Tree's leg. It was time to cure him.
Dipper felt tickled when Bill's tongue slid across his wound, removing the blood from his leg. The elf let out a little moan when he felt the other tongue slip between his pants.
“I do not think this is the time, Bill.” Dipper spoke, making the dragon lift his face until his eyes met his, tongues back in their mouths and the dragon produced a frustrated sound.
The dragon pulled off him and he saw the dragon's saliva began to heal his wound.
“Are you still hungry?” Bill's voice echoed in his head.
When he was in his true form he was unable to speak for what he and the elf had a telepathic connection.
“I doubt be hungry after listening to you chew your dinner, breakfast and lunch.” Dipper stood, checking if his leg hurt but no Bill's saliva had taken effect again.
The elf felt the dragon's head tapping against his shoulder, Dipper giggled and pressed his forehead to the bridge of Bill's nose
“It is impolite to play with your food.”
“I do it to you every night.” The dragon snorted.
Dipper clucked.
“We'd better go.” Bill said, pulling out his tongue and sliding down Dipper's cheek.
“Are you worried?” Dipper off Bill's tongue of his cheek and walked the eldritch body to climb on his back, “That's something you do not see every day.”
“Yeah, well, those pigs were only crawlers, if we continue down this forest we meet a whole herd and I'm already bored of bacon.”
Dipper sighed shaking his head, hundreds of years alongside Bill Cipher and the demon was still a mystery to solve.
Okay, I came up with this AU after seeing Elentori’s elf!dipper art
Basically it’s a lot like the windwaker where Dipper is Link and Mabel is his kidnapped sister. So just like in windwaker, Dipper goes off to save her with Ford. (Whose later revealed to be Princess Unattainabelle) and I don’t really have anything else other than that but if you guys have stuff to add on I would love it ^_^
hey guys am i too late to jump into the elf!dipper bandwagon? just experimenting with krita. these days I am not in the mood to make clean lineart so i am doing these sketchy lines.
