Elis Cowl in Unforgettable
Finally had some good lighting to photograph the finished Elis Cowl that I made (with some slight changes to the original pattern).
Super cozy, warm, and slouchy over-the-shoulder cowl for autumn.

#UHG. CHANGE OF PLANS
OK, ok ok ok... I tried sketching out the color change with markers, altering how much of each color actually shows, took out the Elis cowl 3 times and redid it, switched to a simpler linen stitch instead...
... and I just don’t think the MillaMia is right for these patterns.
This was a few weeks of frustration since I started the cowl while waiting for more of the Brava Bulky to arrive so I could start the sleeves for Faroese Sweater, and I just made zero progress.
I think it just makes it worse because the MillaMia is SOOOO soft and amazing, and it’s so great to work with, on top of knowing that whatever is made will be awesome, but just not this pattern.
Sorry, MillaMia. Back in the stash until I find a pattern worthy of your brilliance. </3
HOW TO: Indian Cross Stitch
I’m making good progress with the Elis Cowl using Unforgettable. It feels really good. It’s SUCH a simple, and interesting pattern, and I’m really enjoying it with this yarn.
The pattern, however, is a little fuzzy on how to do the Indian Cross Stitch (ICS), so I had to look up a video and it was also SUPER simple. The pattern calls for two different ICS. One leaning left, and one leaning right.
You’re basically dropping wrapped stitches for 6 stitches at a time (or any even number), and then slipping half over the other half, then knitting across those stitches. The photo above shows what slipping the first 3 (left) over the last 3 (right).
I love this stitch for how it looks when it’s finished, and how simple it is to do, but dang is it pretty tedious.
CASTING ON! Elis cowl with MillaMia
As a part of my ENORMOUS LoveKnitting.com summer sale order, I got a 5-pack of MillaMia in Berry.
I’ve decided that a yarn this soft needs to be close to your face, and have chosen the Elis cowl with a really cool Indian Cross Stitch. Fun video tutorial for English Style knitting here.
The plan is to change the color so there’s even amounts and use at least 3 of the colors from the 5 pack.

SIGH... To new beginnings
I still LOVE the Elis Cowl pattern, so I found a skein of Red Heart Boutique - Unforgettable in colorway Cappuchino.
I have high hopes to just finish this as the pattern dictates, and get that productive feeling back with a bonus of being able to wear a warm and fuzzy cowl afterwards.
I think the super-deluxe hot chocolate mix with a shot of Kahlua helps. Sporting my Heroes of Yarnia mug too.
Here goes!
#UHG Trying something
Really frustrated with how the MillaMia is working for the Elis Cowl, so I frogged it and am trying it with the Cupido Cowl pattern.
I don’t know how I feel about it right now.
We shall see.
