Rip sodapop and two-bit, y'all would've torn up the dance floor during the cha cha slide
To collect a person piece by piece and start with such things as self-hatred, fear and sadness surely will make him happy again
Something intimate in someone paying attention to small details
Mytho Outfit Analysis! (Princess Tutu)
Mytho is a character famous among the fandom for a few things, most notable of them all is not wearing pants.
Let me elaborate. Mytho, throughout the story, is shown that when in his dormitory, sports nothing but a big white blouse. Of course, everyone finds this funny and we all joke about twink fanservice or whatnot. I thought that way too. But what if I told you, maybe there is something we can learn of mytho's story just through the outfit (or lack therof)?
Let me state the literal reason, my theory of why he dresses like that. Mytho doesn't have a heart, ie he has no thoughts or opinions or feelings or anything of the sort, described as a doll. Now, he's a ballerina. Ballerinas get sweaty after practice. So I would imagine that after a long day at the academy, when Fakir and Mytho get back to their dorm, he'd give him a bath (as his primary caretaker and codependent knight).
I don't think mytho would grasp the concept of "I need to dress myself, I shouldn't walk around completely naked". So I think at the start, fakir would tell him to dress himself, but I think after a while he'd just get tired of it and simply grab a white blouse and shove it on him. Sometimes I don't think he would even bother cuz there have been scenes with Mytho sitting on his bed naked. But I mean, fakir was looking for something. Maybe he was looking for that white blouse to dress him? Maybe that scene was after a bath? Questions, questions.
Now, here's the symbolic reason. Mytho is in half. Not in the way Fakir is. A person is made up of mental and physical aspects. A body alone does not make a person. A mind alone does not make a person. Mytho is only wearing the upper half of his clothes. The blouse represents that he's only there in the physical state, the state you can see, as the first thing you see is someone's bust. Then if you look further and look down you'd notice he isn't wearing pants. That's the mental aspects of his humanity. Non existent. Yet most wouldn't notice.
That's my take, just a little thing I've thought about. But yeah, I think the real reason was just twink fanservice.
olivia rodrigo:
Something else that bothers me about Ginny and Georgia is the way Ellen interacts with Marcus (and Max but I’m focusing on Marcus for this one). I don’t understand why she brushes him off anytime he says something wise and worth while. Particularly in season 3, as far as she knows her kid is suspended from school for his behavior and his depression is getting bad again. And later she finds out about the drinking. And sure maybe as a parent she’s frazzled by the situation with her son and then there’s the drama going on with the lady she befriended across the street and all these rumors going around, people calling her phone asking questions etc. That’s fair. But as much as I like Ellen as a character, I see so many ways she is a large contributor to her children’s unstable mental health.
Because even if Marcus is in trouble, and you’re upset with him right now, why do you feel the need to respond dismissively towards him when he says something real. He was right, no one ever truly knows each other. I think that’s a statement worth genuinely sitting with considering the situation you’re in and the complex feelings you’re dealing with about your friendship with Georgia, Ellen. Not some passive “wow that’s really wise. Could you go do something productive like homework.” Well with a mom that diminishes whatever you have to say why would he feel safe coming to you with his thoughts. A bottle of vodka seems a lot safer. Who else in his family could he turn to to vent his feelings.
Seeing Marcus interact with Georgia in comparison feels so wholesome. Because she talks to him like a person, they have real conversations and Marcus’s words are taken seriously for once.
Idk I had more examples but they slipped my mind, I’ll have to go back and find them but that one scene didn’t sit right with me. And then the advice she gave Max about talking to her friends too? Like is she emotionally unavailable??? Idk man
one of the many victims of streaming is the dvd homepage where they included lil games, bloopers, director commentary, and behind the scenes. I miss u gurl
the fact that generative A.I. has created a completely new fundamental doubt in reality (checking to see if an artwork we see is manmade or not) and doubt in the instinct of enjoying art is unforgivable. its sickeningly tragic, and i mean it. NOTHING is worth this price and i hope that everyone will one day realize this.
The beautiful thing as you get older is that you realize so many “rules” are made up and you can just do whatever. Posters can go anywhere in the house not just my room. I can sit down while cooking a meal or taking a shower. I can make the same thing for breakfast lunch dinner for a week straight. I can roam around the house shirtless. I can wear a dress with jeans. The world is my oyster key word my and I can live as I please embracing little things such as this
One of my favorite things about loving someone or developing a closeness or fondness towards someone is also loving and developing a fondness for the things they care about. When you learn to see the world in a new way, or you learn to appreciate the things you’ve previously overlooked, or they become your excuse to get into an interest you always thought was cool but thought you didn’t have time for. When a connection makes your world bigger and warmer and fuller and more beautiful.
So 2 of my all time favorite hands down anime of all time is Ghost Hunt and Princess Tutu. And though I haven’t engaged with Mushishi nearly as mush as these two, it’s also one of the shows I love so much. And I just thought it’d be fun to point out some aspects it shares with my top 2 that makes sense why I love it too.
1. The soundtrack. It’s such a nostalgic beauty, perfectly aligns with the tone of the show and immerses you into the story. The soundtrack elevates the anime SO SO MUCH and I’m a sucker for a soundtrack gone right. And fun fact, Toshio Masuda, the composer for the Mushishi soundtrack ALSO composed the soundtrack for Ghost Hunt. The vibes for both are just immaculate, I can listen to both soundtracks all day (and I have done so many times). And then PTutu with the classical BANGERS?!?! Instrumentals go so hard for all 3.
2. Case by case story line. All three shows have a different focal story for the viewer. Ginkgo is a traveling Mushi master that we get to see interact with different people and the mushi affecting their lives in each episode. In PTutu, we discover a new heart shard hiding within the residents of Goldcrown town and return to the Prince. And Ghost Hunt focuses on a new case file every few episodes. And every individual story has more depth to them than meets the eye.
3. Between PTutu and Mushishi, there’s a fun oracle like narration aspect going on before the start of an episode
4. A lot of shared English VAs among all 3 💀💀 Todd Haberkorn was in his BAG back then.
5. Open ending aspects. There’s never a clear cut conclusion for the people we see in Mushishi. Ginkgo shows up, does what he can to help and then moves along. Ghost Hunt has pretty ambiguous endings to each case as well. The conclusion is inferred by the viewer but leaves room for speculation and questions. And then the ending for PTutu is bittersweet but also leaves some threads for the viewer to pick at. Was Duck’s presence ever truly gone in the end or did she legit have a lingering impact? What exactly is Fakir actually writing? Drosselmyer and Uzura?? Where are they going?
6. The absence of the trademark bold color anime hair, wild design and usage of over powered moves. There’s the exception of white hair and unique styles but overall the character designs are rather simplistic and realistic. And with there being powers/magic involved, characters are still semi limited by their human nature. With PTutu characters are limited more by their fate and intentions. In Mushishi, Gingko doesn’t have all the answers and can’t save everybody.
7.) SUCHHHHHH unique premises. A bit of a darker tone but there’s still substance there and a decent balance
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
seconding these tags by @ragsy: #if the social consciousness has decided that duckduckgo is the Only Othet Search Engine#might i suggest 'go duck yourself'
MY FINGERS BARELY EVEN TOUCHED YOUR STUPID FUCKING AD STOP REDIRECTING ME TO THE APP STORE
mushishi posting because I’m feeling a lot about the fact that ginko is repeatedly witnessing his own mistake getting thrown into his face in different situations and each have different outcomes
his role has always been the same from when he was a child to when we witness him in the series and his nature is always wrapped in this uncertainty of “will I be able save them or will I not?” and that’s really not up to ginko at all— it’s up to the people he’s supporting through the changes posed by the unbalance in the nature of their region
“do not let hate or anger cloud your vision, we all are simply living and being as we are” (nui to yoki)—> “remember, there is not a place in this world where we don’t belong” (suguro to ginko) and ginko himself saying “you may be a bit jealous of me, but truthfully I am envious of you” (to mujika)
these are such notable quotes because they reflect the main message that ginko tries to get across his whole career, which is that things due to happen will happen and there’s no changing that- but what we as people can control or change is how we deal with it/treat others around us dealing with different things under the same umbrella
ginko represents neutrality like nui does, so he goes around helping people mitigate the effects/consequences of certain actions, mindsets, societal rules, etc on themselves and others while also dealing with a major change himself
to wrap this post up, ginko doesn’t have all the answers, nor does he go around acting like it, and I think that’s beautiful because it’s important to keep in mind that no matter how advanced we are as a species and society, sometimes we over complicate things for ourselves and it really is that simple, we just can’t seem to accept that because of the pride we have as a whole in being advanced so we lose to the simplicity of nature
people are constantly reaping what we sow and ginko is a human too— he isn’t a mushi or some saint or messiah like a few of the people he’s come across in the series label him and other mushishi as. he’s literally just a guy trying to find a comfortable place in the world and to understand his existence
in a lot of ways, he’s a reflection of humanity as a whole in my opinon and I might elaborate on that later idk
me, completely unprompted, in the middle of my workday with a class of 4-5 year olds: remember, there is not a place in this world where you do not belong
also me: you’re not nerdy enough to understand
