Greetings

It is I, Miriam. I created this blog to connect, create, and just explore fandom as well as dabble in my own creations of original works. I also hope to connect with scholars who are disability activists, gender scholars, proud SJWs for loving your body, and those who see academia as a world beyond borders and beyond walls.

I love academia, but we learn so much from experience and non-traditional systems as well. Currently going through a difficult loss and wrote my first creation - a poem. We need love, compassion, and community during these difficult times. Judgement Free zone and I am a proud ally :) Any fans of Ellen Wittlinger's writing, please do connect. I've own this book for ages and know it's a novel with a transgender protagonist, but I'm a huge lover of marine biology, so I think this should be an especially great diversity read this month.

People changed lots of other personal things all the time. They dyed their hair and dieted themselves to near death. They took steroids to build muscles and got breast implants and nose jobs so they'd resemble their favorite movie stars. They changed names and majors and jobs and husbands and wives. They changed religions and political parties. They moved across the country or the world — even changed nationalities. Why was gender the one sacred thing we weren’t supposed to change? Who made that rule?

IN SEARCH OF ELLEN WITTLINGER FANS! More Gio/Diana stuff

I originally created this platform for my Hard Love/Love and Lies work but so far only found one fan :/

I’m remaining hopeful. Here is my playlist for Gio/Diana that I created during the last year of my doctorate program.

I have ideas for right after Marisol leaves the cape, letters/correspondence between Gio and Diana, and details from Gio’s POV in Love and Lies.

Hard Love - Gio/John head cannon - towards Diana Tree

Prior to learning of Wittlinger’s passing, I made a playlist of Diana/Gio songs for fanfiction. I was lucky to have been Facebook friends with Ellen for years. She gave me the green light to make fanfiction.

This song comes to mind between Hard Love and Love and Lies. Gio/John is still processing his declaration to Marisol, yet he remains friends with Diana and it eventually evolves. This song is so much that situation.

Brainstorming: Diana has a livejournal and quotes Olivia Frost on it - then finds out about her plagiarism through another cape cod friend telling her about the quote. Diana starts looking up all of the quotes Gio shares with her. That is why he had a list of quotes ready to hand to Marisol after she broke up with Olivia.

Also have playlists for Gio’s mom and dad. His father is totally a Frank Sinatra guy. Gio loves driving to “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol. “American Pie” comes on the radio during a time when he picks Diana up and she tells him to shut it off because she loves Bob Dylan.

Rest in Power Ellen Wittlinger. Gone but not forgotten.
