Just putting my own two cents as to whether the Percy/Rachel or Percy/Calypso pairings might be represented on screen the same way they were in the books:

I personally don't think so. And there are several reasons why, but one important one is that it is established VERY early on that Luke and Annabeth see each other as siblings and not as potential love interests.

I kinda said it in another post, but in my reading of the books (which I last read years ago, so grain of salt), Percy wasn't oblivious to his own feelings for Annabeth. However, he was DEFINITELY oblivious to Annabeth's feelings for him and very insecure and jealous about her possible feelings for Luke.

I remember because this series became one of the main reasons why I can't stand love triangles in Young Adult/fiction novels anymore 😅🤣. Percy seriously thought that every time Annabeth defended Luke she was carrying a torch for him. (Plus the books kept leaning into it, what with Luke asking Annabeth if she ever loved him and Piper at one point seeing how the mention of Luke affected Annabeth and wondering if Annabeth had "another boyfriend before Percy".)

But in the TV show? Annabeth clearly doesn't want Luke dead, but she clearly doesn't have more than brotherly feelings for Luke either. She also actually believes that Luke sided with Kronos this time (I think in the books she had some doubts at first). So Percy doesn't really see Luke as a romantic rival.

Now that wouldn't mean that Percy wouldn't still feel jealous. 🤔 We saw a hint of it when he forced that Iris message between Luke and Annabeth to hang up. 🤣 I think it would be interesting for the show to explore what others on here have already suggested- jealousy between Luke and Percy (and perhaps even Thalia) over Annabeth becoming more vulnerable with Percy and Percy increasingly becoming her most important person.

So if Percy no longer thinks Luke is a "romantic rival" for Annabeth's feelings, is he still going to be oblivious to Annabeth's feelings for him? It's entirely possible.

Will that lead to him still exploring something with someone else? Ummm that devotion Percy is showing to Annabeth right now is top tier. I can't imagine a world in the TV series where that devotion will shift to anyone else in a romantic sense, because that would be him engaging in an emotional affair at this point 😭. (Well unless the TV show wants to show some messy behavior lol)

So bottom line, I don't think things will go the same way in the books. Especially with Calypso. I have a feeling there will be MAJOR changes there because the age implications...hm.

So something I want to ask both book readers and non-book readers about the reveal in the season finale re: how Thalia got turned into a tree:

Is it really as heinous as ppl are making it out to be? 🤔

Don't get me wrong, it was definitely shocking that Zeus straight up turned Thalia into a tree like that. But I thought the main reason he did that was to prevent Thalia from being the subject of the Great Prophecy, whether it is fighting on the "wrong side" or dying.

He even tried to convince her with glory and protection at Camp Half-Blood before going for the Tree Route. I think it's clear that he cares for Thalia in his own way but is also bound by ancient rules to interfere any more directly.

Imo Zeus is easy to hate but he isn't one-note. He has reasons for what he does, whether it be paranoia or concerns about power or Olympus politics.

I think Season 3 will definitely clear things up even further. Just my two cents.

The show is so engaging and inspiring that I reread The Titan's Curse for the first time in years and I am even more excited for what Season 3 will have in store for us all 🤩

Also, fun fact: The Titan's Curse was the very first Percy Jackson book I read. It was the most prominent copy of the series at my local library. I would always pass by it and not pick it up because I thought the cover looked weird.

Then one day I decided to actually read the synopsis on the back. It worked my interest a bit, so I skimmed through the inside of the book a little to see more. The first chapter my skimming landed on? The "dam" chapter 🤣🤣

After that I couldn't stop reading and ended up reading the whole book, then went back to the first one. It was awesome.

I think this was shortly before The Last Olympian was released. I remember buying that book when it came out 🤔

This series is wonderful and really making me go down memory lane 🥹

I honestly just want a prequel movie showing how Jessica and Duke Leto got together. With Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac. I just loved their subtle moments of love and trust and marital happiness in the movie, and would love to see where it all began.

I just...really want fic that focuses on Naruto and Shikamaru raising their families and dealing with the political intrigue of ruling Konoha on a day-to-day basis.

Currently reading through Dune prequel books that have Leto x Jessica moments in them. Sorry not sorry, I'm obsessed and I care more about romance than dark messiahs ya'll, it's a fact.

And I will admit that though the prequel books are not without their controversy, and have definitely had moments that made me mad at Leto re: how he goes about his love life at times...his first meeting with Jessica (in the prequels at least) was kinda hot.

And yes I'm talking about the fact that he ran his fingers through Jessica's hair while commenting that he heard the Bene Gesserit were all witches. Oooo, steamy. (Enemies-to-lovers fans know of the crumbs of which I speak lol)
