You know I was about to ask how the crew can go from standing on water to being underwater, but I looked back at some old posts and realized that they can just control their magnet force thingy (I forgot what it's called). So yay, for old posts!

Yes, water is like a gravity field amplifier for them and walking on it is normal for them, so going under it might require some skill (I still don't know what super exactly do they do 😅🤭), but they can't go onto land at all, or in Salazar's case, completely dry land for longer, because their gravity field, not being in sync with the land, doesn't hold up there, so it just collapses and they get destroyed because it was keeping them in shape, and now it's gone, so they fall apart.
To go there, they'd have to create a separate gravity field synchronized with the land, which is beyond their capabilities. 🙂
The trident allowed Salazar to walk on land because, despite being a truly powerful, magical water artifact, it possessed such immense energy that captain's field remained on land when he held it. Also in a sense, the trident was more powerful than the curse, as it was its carrier. Therefore, due to the second thing, the crew was unable to drown Jack.
Stronger than curse, so stronger than cursed beings.
I think both were not present simultaneously in terms of the attack, because if the first thing weren't limited to Salazar—that is, if the artifact emitted energy not only to the person holding it but also during attack—the crew member wouldn't die while above land, or the captain would simply destroy his crew—an electromagnetic field energy overload. They would disintegrate, but the field would be present, so they would become floating dust.
But as we've seen, the trident kind of can do these things, but it has to be initiated.
With the destruction of the Trident, the curse was broken, so its laws ceased to apply.
