she watched from afar as her sister approached. fear gripped her heart, but she would have to face antigone at some point. and she had no other ways to deter her sister’s approach. emil was out, so she couldn’t use lessons with him as an excuse anymore.

she grabbed her chalkboard, and she scratched out a greeting to her sister. hello, sis. you look pretty as ever. she even drew her sister a small heart. perhaps that would soften the terror in elektra’s eyes.

you look really pretty tonight, sister. elektra rested her head on her sister’s shoulder, placing an affectionate kiss there before hopping up and looking down at her sister. 

we should dance, she mouths, hands signing alongside. what do you say? you up to dance with your left footed sister?

“WHO HURT YOU?! I’LL TEAR THEM LIMB FROM LIMB. YOU HAVE WOUNDS!” elektra rushed to her sister when they were at camp, gripping her head and looking at her wounds. “WHO WERE YOU WITH? WHO LET YOU GET HURT?” 

she continued to search her sister for more wounds, frowning. “I’M GOING TO KILL THEM, WHOEVER IT WAS. THE ONE TIME I LEAVE YOU ALONE IN A FIGHT FOR OUR LIVES! HONESTLY.”

“WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? ARE YOU SURE YOU CAN PROTECT YOURSELF? YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO COME WITH ME, SISTER. I DON’T WANT YOU GETTING HURT.” elektra’s not usually this touchy feely. but she was always different with her lovely sister.

“ARE YOU TIRED? I CAN PROBABLY GET YOU A SPOT ON THE CART.”

“SISTER! GET BEHIND ME!” elektra grabs her sister by the arm, pushing her behind her as a human shield. one of the blood fiends, driven wild by kastamir’s magic attacks her, and she blocks as best as she can with her sword. this was terrible. awful. antigone was exposed, and elektra couldn’t LOSE her. with a well placed parry and stab, she watched the blood fiend crumple to the ground, writhing before elektra stabbed him again. dead.

“QUICK. LET’S FIND SOME OF THE OTHERS. WE’RE SAFER IN A GROUP.”

“YOUR HOUSE IS STILL TOO BIG, SISTER,” she said quietly, sitting back and looking at all antigone had after her husband has bit the proverbial dust. she at least got something good out of that marriage. and she didn’t have to lie on her back too long.
