Emerald catfish!

Also known as emerald (green) corydoras catfish or emerald brochis! Its many names reference how its sides will reflect a shiny metallic green or blueish green colour. They generally live on the bottom of the water column, scavenging the substrate for food, but they can sometimes make a quick trip to the surface of the water to get a gulp of air if oxygen content of the water is low, as they are facultative air breathers!

New feeesh! The panda corys are mine, and the emerald cory and clown pleco are my mom’s. The emerald was free, because someone donated it to my store so we couldn’t sell it, and my mom got it! They’ll stay in quarantine for about two weeks. Hopefully things go well and they get through without any issues!

Omg I just found pictures of my very first fish 💜 I rescued her from a family member who had her in that tiny 2.5 gal with spongebob decor. Sadly, only Java the emerald cory made it (there were 5 fish and 1 shrimp in it) but she's still going strong almost 4 years later! The poor thing looked so rough and laid eggs the first night in a new tank 😭 She really is fuckin unit

She's now not only in a mansion (30 gal) compared to that ammonia prison but is also a proud mama of a couple babies of various ages!
