Today I am thankful for my life.

As I was on the train, we suddenly stopped and the driver came on and asked, "Is everyone ok? We have just been in a collision with a car and we will be here for a while." Within 5 minutes, 2 firetrucks came. Later, an ambulance whizzed by and a police car also came. 

We were stuck at the intersection for a long while before busses came to transfer us to the station. Firemen began helping citizens off the train, starting with the last car. It was dark outside and there was snow on the ground. It wasn't very chilly, but the heat in the bus that awaited us was comforting. Everyone seemed to have a mutual sense of camaraderie  even as we sat or stood on the packed bus.

One gentleman next to me observed, "Ah, people still stand at the back doors. They don't continue walking all the way to the back." An interesting observation, I thought, as years ago I had the same discussion with some friends. There are so many little things that could be changed to make certain systems more efficent.
