11. what do you consider to be romance?

Ooooh hard question. But let me try to explain.

Romance is listening to your partner (or partners) talk about something that interests them because you want to know what makes them happy.

Romance is learning what foods they like and don't like so you can either make or buy it for them.

Romance is sometimes taking turns being the toddler in which you have to tell your partner(s) to do something important or healthy even if they are being stubborn about it.

Romance is giving your partner(s) a kiss or a hug for no other reason that because you love them.

Romance is those little in jokes and dumb names you call your partner(s) that no one else understands.

Romance is listening to what troubles your partner(s) and if it pertains to you, trying to do what you can to fix it.

Romance is giving your partner(s) space when they ask for it, and feeling comfortable to ask for space yourself.

In short, romance is showing someone that you genuinely care about what they think and how they feel and wanting to got through life continuing to make them happy because it makes you happy.

Now there is a blur between romance and simply just love, as one can be aromantic, still have a partner, do all those things, and still be aromantic. But I think romance is basically the desire to pursue those feelings mentioned above. And if one happens to find those feelings without the need to look and pursue for them, then they have the right to.

Yes this turned into an "Aros are queer, real, and valid" post at the end but I don't care. Hope this is a good answer, Em!

So @emilyrox tagged my in this and it's literally the best ask game.

Three Favorite Ships: Depends on what I'm hyperfixating on at the time. I have mostly two constant favorites with one always revolving in the third spot.

EiTeru/KaguE (Eirin Yagokoro/Kaguya Houraisan from Touhou): My beloved. My OTP since I fell in love with Touhou and will stay that way forever. The sheer devotion, the friendship that became more, as well as the lengths they will go for each other makes my heart melt.

XZero (Mega Man X/Zero from the Mega Man franchise): While seemingly unintentional, XZero is one of the best written romances I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. From close friends, to lovers, to literally transcending death for each other. They have my heart.

Zhongluc (Zhongli/Diluc Ragnvindr from Genshin Impact): The eptiome of non-canon self indulgence. Will it ever happen? Only in my fics! What I love about them is how much they parallel each other as well as the phoenix/dragon motif. That's why they're canon to me.

First Ship: Easily ZeLink (Zelda x Link). But more specfically because I love Wind Waker so much, TeLink (Tetra x Link). With Tetra being the pirate with a heart of gold and this Link being the normal kid turned fighter, they were great together. I also loved the "accidental hero" vibes both their stories had and they way they both grew.

Last Movie: Spider Man: Across the Spiderverse. I think this meme says it all.

Okay but for real, not only is it a wonderfully done story with amazing themes and commentary, it is also a true masterpiece of the arts in every sense of the word. Every frame is a work of art, everything so lovingly crafted, the music matching perfectly, the characters in both design and story. Even if you're not a superhero fan GO WATCH IT.

Currently Reading: My WIP for Two of a Kind Okay but for real, I'm actually rereading an wonderful XZero fic called "Fallen Saivor" by my friend @oofitsbethi (who is also an amazing artist). It's essentially a canon-divergence retelling of the Mega Man Zero series that centers on X opening himself up again to loving, trusting, and leaning on the people who cherish him. All while the world falls apart around him and his husband, Zero.

📚- Song I could write a term paper on.

Fun fact! I’ve written an essay on the SIU album before. So let’s keep the Maretu train going. I’d write another one on Pink. While it may come off as your standard villain song, it actually reads more like a normal person going down a dark path. I’d write the essay on my personal interpretation which I think is a commentary on desensitization from media and the drawbacks of trying to play hero.

🎥- Song that gives me a very specific mental image.

This remix of Abnormailty Dancing Girl by Guchiry. It combines the original vocals and the vocals of the Utatane Piko cover. Picture, if you will, two characters who appear to be nothing alike. One is tsukumogami with a sharp tongue and a god complex. The other is a fox girl who is anxiety incarnate. But one thing they both desire is to be acknowledged for what they’ve accomplished. And the are both willing to be self destructive, albeit in very different ways, to succeed.

🥲- A song that made me cry.

Searching for Your Love by Kikuo. The first time I listened, I sobbed. It just embodies that child-like desire for someone to hold you and tell you everything is okay. That the world isn’t terrible in their arms. While I’ve never been neglected by my family, I’ve retreated into a personal world to escape many times. And I know the feeling of just wanting someone there for me.
