Ford and Fiddleford were fighting early in the morning
Fiddleford said they should break up because college was ending soon and he didn't think they could continue dating after college because him and Ford moving in together would most likely look suspicions and he didn't think they would work out together if they lived too far away from eachother, Ford argued that they could figure something out
"Ford I just don't think it will work out!" "WHY NOT!?" Ford was crying he didn't want to leave Fiddleford he was the first person Ford had ever fallen in love with and he was leaving him
"Damit Ford why won't you just" Fiddleford groans loudly pinching the bridge of his nose " I'm sorry I can't do this right now" Fiddleford walks past Ford to open the door and leave "FINE LEAVE THEN" Ford shouts angrily "SEE IF I CARE!" Fiddleford slams the door behind him
Ford stands there for a moment staring at the door before he breaks down crying, he didn't know how to deal with this, it was his first break up ever, he needed to talk to Emma-May, she would probably know what to do
Emma-May groaned as she got up from bed to answer the door, taking a quick glance at the clock to see that is was 7:23 am thinking it was too early for this
"Who is- Stanford?" She stands there in shock as her boyfriend (one of them anyway) stands in front of the door with tears in his eyes and on his face "what happened?" she asks concerned as she pulls Ford inside
"Emmy! F-Fid" everything he says after that is completely ineligible and he sobs quietly after he finishes talking "oh you poor thing!" she pulls Ford into a hug and he sobs into it
Emma-May holds him until his sobs calm down enough for him to talk properly "F-Fidds hate- Fidds hates me" Ford stutters in between sobs "I'm sure he doesn't" Emma-May comforts "he does! he broke up with me!" "he WHAT" "he broke up with me!" Emma-May stares in disbelief as Ford relays his and Fiddleford's earlier argument through hiccups and sobs
Emma-May just hugs him tightly "Don't worry sugar I've got you" Ford continues to sob into her chest as she wonders why the hell Fidds would do this (even though Ford just told her it still doesn't make sense to her)
She walks up to Fiddleford in the library an hour or so later to talk to him "Hey Fidds I heard what happened from Ford" he groans burying his head deeper into his arms "I feel like a horrible person" he admits suddenly sitting up to talk to her
"Then why did you break up with him?" Emma-May asks curiously "I..." he starts to say something but doesn't have the words for what he's trying to say "well- I- He-" Fiddleford tries to stutter through a answer but gives up "I don't know..." he admits taking his glasses off and putting his face in his hands "I don't want to leave him Emma, i don't know what to do" Emma-May puts a hand on his shoulder gently
"I love him, and I want so bad to stay with him but... if someone finds out we're... queer... it's over for us" Fiddleford sniffles slightly and wipes a few tears from his eyes
It made her feel bad for him, nobody should have to be afraid of losing everything just because of who they love
Emma-May thinks about it for a minute "what if you lived in the same town? Far enough to not be suspicious but close enough that you can still be together" she suggests after a moment
Fiddleford immediately stands up after hearing that "How did I not think of that, Emma your a genius!" he pulls her in to kiss her before running out of the library
Emma-May laughs slightly and shakes her head
"Ford" Fiddleford says quickly when he opens the door to Emma-May's dorm, Ford curls up under the blankets on Emma-May's bed "Go away" he says sniffling Fiddleford sits on the edge of the bed "Ford please I'm sorry" Fiddleford pleads setting a hand on his shoulder "I love you Ford..."
Ford sits up suddenly and hugs Fiddleford "Please don't do that ever again" Ford says trembling and squeezing him tightly "I won't" Fiddleford promises hugging him back
Emma-May walks in "You guys doing better now?" she asks smiling "Emma!" "Emmy!" they both say excitedly "Come snuggle with us?" Ford whines, Emma laughs quietly a bit "I would love to" she says climbing into bed with them
After they all get comfortable Ford starts to fall asleep "I love you guys..." he says yawning "I love you to Ford" Fiddleford says kissing his forehead "now go to sleep, it's been a long day" and that's all takes for Ford to fall asleep
"He's beautiful" Fidds whispers as Ford snores softly "He really is" Emma sighs smiling
