Anakin had not made many friends when he'd first arrived at the temple, nine years old and different from everyone else. He hadn't truly fit in, and it had been obvious in the conflicts that had risen up with the other children his age, both during training and during their off time. It wasn't that he hadn't been a likeable child but he'd been strange to the others, too old in age and too new in experience. He hadn't been raised from the very young age in the ways of the Jedi. He had been a slave with a mother, a family. He'd been defensive and difficult. He'd been a show off, wanting to be liked and accepted, ultimately pushing people away instead. But Katyae, a few years older than him, had been a fast ally. Even when he hadn't been terribly receptive to her friendship, she'd been kind and looked out for him. When others had not, she had attempted to be friendly and welcoming. It had taken a while for Anakin to accept her but she hadn't given up, and eventually, he'd come to trust her, to like her.
Katyae was a few years older than him, which had made him wary at first - besides, he didn't want the other kids to think he needed some girl to stick up for him. It hadn't mattered for very long. Once Anakin warned up to someone, he was very receptive and very loyal. Once you had him, you had him for life. And he and Katyae had been friends since. Now they were both knights, and while things were different now with the war that had arrived on their doorstep post Geonosis, they'd stuck together when the occasion called for it and they worked well together. That was why Master vos Zarath and Master Kenobi had instructed they work together to drop supplies to their troops behind enemy lines, to feed not only their own people but the locals. Anakin was looking forward to a break from typical front line duties and if he had to be stuck with anyone for a cooperative mission, Katyae wasn't a bad choice.
Her style was different than his but he was certain they could make it work. Currently, the clones were loading their ship with their supplies, and Anakin was overseeing it (aka not doing a whole lot, it wasn't as if they required supervision). He noticed Katyae arrive to the hanger and he slid down off the cargo box he'd been sitting on, grinning broadly at his travel companion. "You get lost?" Anakin asked, as if she was late.
