I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY RECRUITED ANOTHER FAN TO THE EMPEROR'S EDGE FANDOM!
Today I saw a tiktok that said to imagine your favorite book character dancing to the WAP and... I’ve never hated booktok more
Consensus on my friend finishing the first Emperor’s Edge book at my recommendation:
**WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD**
She loves Amaranthe (don’t we all)
She likes Sicarius but he worries her (isn’t she in for a treat)
Sespian is our smol adorable brain boy and he deserves the world.
She finds his crush on Amaranthe adorable.
If, and I quote, “this crap becomes a love triangle” she’s “rage-quitting”
She loved Dunn and was so happy that Sespian got a friend that she definitely flipped out on me a couple pages later when she began suspecting...
That was mostly because when she told me she loved Dunn I didn’t say a word to her I was just like “aren’t Lindsay’s characters amazing 🥰🥰🥰”
She dislikes book one Akstyr and doesn’t approve of his teenage angst.
She does, however, love Maldynado against her will.
Books is the only one with common sense. She loves him irrevocably. She’s compared herself to Amaranthe and wants to know where she can get a Marl “Books” Mugdildor to keep her in line.
She loves when Amaranthe takes Sicarius on missions because he’s always exasperated with her and he always mumbles.
To which I responded “Remember though Sicarius doesn’t mumble he’s an eloquent well-trained assassin with linguistic fluidity-“
“-who happens to mumble.”
She was very offended when they tried to make Mal leave his chickens.
She tried so hard to guess the plot points and still got them wrong.
She quote “read it for four hours straight” will “never forgive [me] for this” and is quote “never reading one of [my] books again”
“Take this stupid thing back it hurt my feelings”
So, long story short, she loved it and she’s one of us now.
Duuuuuuude your url!!! I started freaking out the second I saw it in my notifications. I don’t know enough Emperor’s Edge fans.
Haha thank you very much! It’s my personal pride and joy. This fandom, while small, is the most amazing thing ever. 😊
Have you read Decrypted and/or Encrypted? If so, what did you think??
As someone who hates the Instant Translation trope, I loved it. I mean, you’ve got the linguistics expert who does archery to help her focus, and the renegade “engineer” who kicks ass alongside her. It fits in perfectly with the main story and I love basically every character in there.
Please read the Emperor’s Edge novels. The main character is a woman of color, as are the majority of the supporting characters--one of which is mute, another who is an ex-gang member, a third of which is a sixty year old man--and all of them get major spotlights in each book. The writing is emotionally driven, well paced, and perfectly worded. The characters are well fleshed out, and each of them is markedly different.
High fantasy, steam punk, assassins, convoluted plots, conspiracy theories, found family; what more could you ask for?
The first three books are currently free on Amazon, B&N, and iTunes.
Books: I cannot see myself swinging my hips and wildly gyrating my pelvis. I am not interested.
Maldynado: And the world takes a collective sigh of relief!
I promise I’m going to re-read the whole Emporer’s Edge series and do some fun stuff, get some good quotes, maybe some fan art and discussion posts but I’m completely swamped right now reading-wise. I promise it will happen! It just might take a little while...
Thanks guys!
