My favorite ending cuz I enjoy the pain...

Apparently few other people and I are sick because we like the empress ending and something is wrong with us.

What the hell is this sort of audacity? Do I need to remind people that it is a fucking game, not you writing a canonical sequel with the mission to respect the perfect will of the author?

It's a game where you can freely impersonate the character you like. You are basically the main protagonist. So you are absolutely free to play the game as you want.

You choose to play it accordingly to canon? Perfect! You did it because you felt good with this ending, because it suits your tastes and you enjoyed it very much? that's the dope!

You choose it because you think it's the only ending people have to take because otherwise they would deserve your scorn? Good for you, Sapkowski will pat your head and you will be rewarded with a chocolate medail (and maybe he will remind you he hates the games and in his books Ciri doesn't become a witcheress and just goes to find adventures in our world with Galaad and maybe will work for another king but don't mind it...)

Ciri becoming a witcheress is maybe the rightful choice. But it's not my cup of tea.

Because I play for my pleasure, to entertain myself and sorry, but being alone on the Path, fighting random creatures for a misery with no gratitude from the peasants who hired me is not a life I dream about.

The monsters are rarer and rarer. Most of witchers are gone or stopped their activities. It's not even like you will spend good time with your buddies and soon you will be short of income and purpose.

I love how brave Ciri is, how, despite her wounds, traumas and anger, she knows how to be compationate and fair in the game (because yes, I am speaking of the game). Besides, she has a great power which could help a lot of people.

And I didn't work my butt to bring peace into the Empire and North (cause, I remind you, it's MY PLAY) for letting all people down.

I am allowed to love women of power, to fancy characters choosing the greater good and taking responsibilities.

Cause I like the idea of new challenges and if I know that power corrupts, I would dream to become a great ruler, leading the Empire the right way, promoting arts, helping small kingdoms, protecting non humans and pissing my father as hell.

And for the last time, it's just a game, made to please the player and letting them having their how decisions, according to who they are and what they love, even if it's not aligned to canon.

So, if you want Ciri to become a witcheress cause you can't stand Nilfgaard or feel disgusted to see her as Empress, please do it, have fun, live the best play of your life. It's really cool and totally valid.

But if it's for judging people with other views/wishes as crazy, stupid, wrong or insane, remember you are just policing a piece of entertainment, imposing your tastes and beliefs to other players and trying to act like a stupid bigot who thinks only their opinion is the rightful one.

And imho, it's far worse than ending a play with a smile on my face because I choose what made me happy for few hours and involved no one else than me.
