Anyone ever thought about how the Empty Child also fits as a metaphor for trauma and chronic illness and the like? You try to heal, you try to become what you think a good, healthy, and normal person is supposed to be like… but your body doesn’t work like it’s supposed to, and your guides (parents, other adults, family) were dysfunctional. So you end up just… not quite right. Yet, you’re trying.

Can somebody please explain this to me, it’s been bothering me for YEARS. Why is it that at the end of The Doctor Dances, Jack can’t just use his Vortex Manipulator to leave his ship and escape the blast from the bomb? Why does the Doctor have to rescue him in the TARDIS at all?

I’m sure I’ve missed something but I was rewatching series 1 again lately and it’s not left my brain since

I've been thinking about writing a Doctor Who story, which will eventually crossover into Torchwood. It's gonna be about Jack and my OC though.

My only worry is that since I don't see a lot of people writing about Torchwood, would anyone really read it?
