It’s so sad to say because it reflects how this site is, but I also had a situation back in 2021/2022 (privately) and it completely changed how I navigated this site for years. Especially because I had deleted my account, spent about half a year away and as soon as I created another account, she created a fake account to interact with me (changed her name and even her biases LMAO and I mean, how crazy do you have to be to even fake your bias?) but anyway, ruined my second account as well and I couldn’t come to enjoy being there. And that’s how I ended up in my third account (this one lmao)

I feel like even if the first movie flopped, changing the cast and/or the format wasn’t the way to go. The competition was hard back then, as you said. There are so many books being adapted, so the bookish niche was overwhelmed but yeah, to simply give up was heartbreaking. Jamie was the perfect Jace, and Lily also did a great job! (but I have to admit that I liked the Lightwood siblings from the series more than the movie)

I am suspicious about info-dumping books because I am a literature student lmao so I deal with it like daily and I even enjoy (when it’s well written hahaha)

Girl, SAME, the scene where Mark said “why pretend?” when Emma suggested the fake dating?! He genuinely left me GAGGED! The MAN YOU ARE, MARK ‼️ But I appreciated Julian too much. Just as you, I related a lot to him and felt so sorry for what Emma was doing to him. I have to admit that miscommunication is NOT my tropé and I was rolling my eyes so many times through. I completely agree with you that it went downhill. IT HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL, SO MUCH

I am currently reading The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s simply one of my favorites. I reread it like yearly 🙈♥️ Maggie is a bit of an info-dumb author, but her books are just so vibes, I love her

BUT OH MY GOD! SIX OF CROWS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES ‼️ Like changed the course of my life favorites. Leigh Bardugo is simply one of my favorite authors. I read everything from her! Have you seen that she is going to release a Grishaverse novella this year? I am sat. The staff in the bookstore is telling me it hasn’t been released, much less translated to my country’s language, but I am just too sat for that 🙂‍↕️

I would suggest us to add each other in goodreads, but I barely ever write reviews. I even migrated to StoryGraph just to keep track of what I am reading 🥹☝️🏻

i have the same thoughts as you! i prefer the siblings from the show (visual wise) but acting, i feel like the movie was more precise? they eventually got better later on (season 1's just difficult to watch lawrd).

heeseung as jace is such a vision. i am literally combusting with the thought. jace was one of my book crushes, and i loved jamie campbell being cast for the movie. i loved it so much that i truly got offended when the series was announced with a whole new cast LMAO and so i shut it down as if it never existed (i am so sorry 🥹)

my fave is also tid (and why i am looking forward to pick tlh and try again) but i completely agree with you about tda. i understand the parabatai thing between emma and julian. yet, still, everything was so dramatic 😪 and i was looking forward to mark’s appearance since his introduction on tmi, but i don’t know, it wasn’t it. i guess i was expecting too much lmao 😅

actually when i first joined, i had an experience too but it's more internal and very quick which still damaged my experience here. since then, i hesitated to make friends even when i wanted to interact or dm other authors 😭 that's why i'm so glad you had the courage to send me an ask, truly thank you!! coming from other fandoms in kpop, starting here and other engene spaces definitely gave me a whiplash. there's less unity in everything (big changes lately tho that's why we're finally winning awards for the boys) and everyone's competing with one another (both irl and online spaces) like relax bro we're all fans here jfc no one's above anyone just because you've interacted with enhypen many times 🤡 same oml! jamie's the one i can see when i read the books which shows how much of a great job he did as jace in the movie! nah cuz same like wdym? they already casted some people for the next movie (big names too) and then it didn't go through. honestly, it's just bad marketing cuz i literally never heard of it when it came out. but also because there were so many YA book to movie adaptations happening during that time so it got overshadowed (hunger games' catching fire esp) i liked dominic sherwood as christian ozera for the vampire academy movie (which i liked btw and i read the books too, my first YA series!!) but he did nawt deliver as jace sawry 😭 the show did get better season 2 onwards cuz they got a new and more experience showrunners (which i just found recently) but still, movie over series any day lol. funny how both franchise he's in got cancelled like the second book/sequel to vampire academy (frostbite) is literally my fave book of the entire series. good luck on re-reading! i'll probably just watch or read summaries to save time. she info dumps anyway so lowk we didn't have to? what series are you reading rn? i'm almost halfway of this winter book but it's starting to bore me (plot wise) 😭 and i liked many! but they're dystopian, fantasy and sci-fi. on top of my head, for series, hunger games ofc (idk why i never read it when i was obsessed with the movie series), def the hex hall series by rachel hawkins (underrated maybe cuz of the not so pretty book cover but it's like so good and i interacted with the author!), the lunar chronicles by marissa meyer (how i wish i read this sooner, like in high school) and the six of crows duology (i read everything in the grishaverse too and have a wip for riki in this world!) yk my plot for that parabatai thing's more angsty like i was fr considering rewriting the whole series lmao i can't. the full rage from the disappointment gave birth to these plots i swear. idk if there are fanfics about these that did rewrites or sumn i haven't checked but i hope there are. i was actually in love with mark oml i shipped him with emma at one point 👀 if you wanna read my goodreads reviews, they'll be under the cut for potential spoilers:

hello, new moot! it’s so nice to meet you 🤲🏻 i am always so happy to connect with engenes, but engenes that have other similar interests to me?! OH MY GOD! i fear i will talk too much here 🤧

I FEEL YOU! when the teasers came out i was like “it’s so shadowhunter’s coded, why is no one talking about it?” especially the one where Hee is standing with his hoodie up! but then, i realised that maybe shadowhunter universe is not that well known anymore 😞

honestly, i was a die-hard fan! i read tmi and tid about twice and tda once. i came to the point of writing oc x oc fanfics because of how much i loved the universe. but i have to admit that when chain of gold was published i was in my biggest reading slump and never finished it or came back for the rest of the series. and it’s so interesting because i genuinely liked the prologue, and i was intrigued on the plot, like what do you mean by it would be six years before you saw him again?! what happened? WHAT was he?!

but i am on a goal this year to reread all my fave fantasy books and the shadowhunters chronicles is included! hope we both finally get through the last hours books ✨ but what’s the tea about cassandra that i don’t know???

i love making new friends all the time too! though i kinda held back in the last 3 years cuz of how this platform usually is. BUT YES IT'S SO RARE TO MEET PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR INTERESTS HERE OUTSIDE OF K-POP SO I'M VERY HAPPY TO MEET YOU 😭 that's really perfect cuz i talk a lot too hehe (trust). literally the first word i uttered after seeing heeseung's concept pic was "jace?" and i guess yeah cuz the show got cancelled in 2019. i still prefer the movie than the show although it improved on later seasons like mix and match, you'll have the best casting. that's how i discovered this whole series, randomly clicking a movie on netflix and got hooked and read the books. omg you read them twice i could never! clary's the #1 in my hit list up to this day (that's how much i hated her oml) but i'm after the entire story of the shadowhunter universe so i kept reading the rest. the infernal devices are by far my favourite out of all that i often recommend to others! idk if you liked TDA cuz that was my least fave out of the three (the first book was good but it went downhill). the potential of this trilogy is immense but she unfortunately did not deliver 💔 AND WE ARE TWINS FR CUZ LOOK 😭 this was when i started seeing things in my mind, along with the dreams which led me to finally begin writing a year after (2020). i read the compilation book before TLH was released and was so intrigued like i might re-visit TID as a refresher before diving back in! my goal is to also catch up with more books this year in various genres since i've mainly read fantasy when i started reading traditional published books. about the issues with her, you can find them everywhere, there are even video essays on it on youtube 🤭
