The Social Shakespeare Energy Swing (SSES) is real! I can ride the wave of positive energy through each reading, riding that crest for two or three days after. However, a couple of days after my last read of the month, waiting through the first week of the new month for cast lists to be announced, I will struggle through a low energy trough. I won’t sleep well. I find I am more in need of naps. Then casts are announced and I will start to build up the next energy wave.

I accept that the low energy periods are simply my body reminding me that I have leukemia and that I need to listen to my body’s needs. The energy bonus that comes from Social Shakespeare is good for me. It is good for my health. I get the same rush from it that I do from a good walk or bicycle ride.
