@enseint 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐃 : talk about gaara and morning routines
*cracks my knuckles* alright alright alright alright . so i was gonna make this its own headcanon but all things considered, i think i’ll just type it up here since it’s prompted and i procrastinated the other one too long lmfao.
so gaara struggles a lot with morning routines actually. i’ll start with just getting up at a decent time in the morning . as kazekage he has a lot of stuff going on and a lot of work to get done and so he does have somewhat of a routine he follows, but the execution of that routine can be a bit of a struggle. he suffers from insomnia pretty bad so when he finally falls asleep at whatever odd hour of the morning , waking up can be taxing , unfulfilling , and tiresome . he does will himself to get up pretty easily despite his body feeling like 1000 bricks are weighing him down . he puts his work ahead of everything so that is enough to get him going , but whether he gets to his office at the same time every day is a whole other discussion ( i.e. he doesn’t )
when it comes to things like simple hygiene like brushing his teeth , combing hair , and showering , well ... those things also prove themselves rather difficult , especially considering he already wakes up feeling like relative shit . he tries to keep his mouth clean as he represents sunagakure and having bad breath is , simply put , embarrassing . especially when he’s dealing with meetings and confrontations all day . but that’s more of how it’s viewed , rather than a need to take care himself , it’s something he does for other people and to save face . combing his hair ? he doesn’t . haha . not until he’s older , anyway . his hair’s pretty messy and he’s never really bothered with it or really cared what it does . even if he does run a comb through it , it kind of throws everything off , so most of the time he just lets it do whatever it does . as for showering , i wouldn’t say he has much of a problem with keeping himself clean , but i’m sure there’s water restrictions at certain times during the year , etc , so at those times it’s not as if anyone has a choice but simply do their best to keep themselves as clean as possible . he showers often enough to keep himself clean and free of grime and dirt and SAND (but lets be real , he’s never free of sand that shit will show up in the showers and everything) . but he’s careful that he’s clean and smelling good especially if he has anywhere to be or is readying for a mission that requires days of travel . at times he forgets or it just doesn’t really cross his mind , considering he’s so consumed with literally every other aspect of his life , so i think sometimes temari gives him a gentle reminder and he’s like oh . but i dont suspect taking a full shower is an every day event ( probably for most people in suna considering theyre in the desert idk ) but i can imagine that most mornings when he doesn’t shower he at least wipes himself down with a soapy damp cloth .
he also does not eat in the mornings . he’s not hungry so he doesn’t think about it . his ability to provide himself with self care is basically in the toilet. he’ll eat eventually, probably something light, treating it mostly as sustenance to provide himself with enough energy to get through the day, but it’s definitely not usually a conscious effort to abide by, and usually he won’t eat until the afternoons.
