Oh my!!! I am gutted right now. This book just tore down every part of my being with the biggest emotional punch. Abigail Owen has done it again and completely left me speechless with my emotional state in chaos. I don't know how she does it...but her writing is like magic itself.
In this second installment of The Crucible Series Lyra finds herself inside of Tartarus with no escape. After fighting for her life through the Crucible Games, she now finds herself fighting for her life in a prison for the Titans. But beware because things are definitely not what they seem and someone is pulling some strings playing everyone like a puppet master. Can Lyra figure out the mystery of who and why? Or will she die trying to get back to the man she loves? Will Hades burn the world down to get her back?
This book is a huge mystery. There ae so many secrets and twists that you often wonder what is real and what is a glamour. The Gods have truly created a prison of pain and suffering and Lyra learns the hard way that you can't save everyone no matter how much you try.
Overall this book is gut wrenching, sob inducing, heart pounding, and a soul searching thriller of a read. It is full of death, danger, lies and love. It is a fast paced read that is extremely hard to put down. It is not for the squeamish, as it is full of blood and gore. While reading you must have a huge box of tissues and possibly a defibrillator to start your heart once it stops a time or too in those death defying moments.
As with the first book it is filled with mythical creatures that are unimaginable as well as a wonderful and strong cast of characters. This world of the Gods and Titans is well developed and extremely lifelike. I am loving every bit of this adventure and I am not ready to get off this roller coaster yet. Ending in a bit of a cliff hanger, this book leaves you with the biggest mystery of all.....who is the true "Deceiver"?
I highly recommend this book and series. But you have to read book one The Games Gods Play in order to understand the story. So be sure to grab a copy of it along with this book. If you love Hunger Games and Percy Jackson, then this book is right up your alley. As it is a smash up of both concepts. A non stop adrenaline rush!! If I could give this book more stars, I most definitely would. A note to Abigail Owen...You wounded me this round. What punches do you have next???
