Entry #01

I am Isak Aspen, if someone should find my research useful I ask them to not turn away from these monsters that have invaded our world, but rather pursue them. Knowledge is the key to power and prosperity. If we have any hope of subduing these beasts, we must absorb all we can about them, only then can we use them to obtain our own goals and dreams. I believe there is much more to these ‘monsters’ than all of you believe. From today forward, I will devote my entire life to studying these creatures and write my findings down in this notebook. 

Today, on May 25th,  I have learned these beasts are capable of changing, becoming larger and stronger. I have dubbed this process ‘evolution’ as it appears these monsters are capable of evolving at a shockingly fast pace in order to ensure their continued survival. I urge all of you to take caution, even the smallest of creatures appear capable of changing at a moment’s notice, becoming far more powerful and fearsome. However, it seems this change is mostly physical. Upon ‘evolving’ they seem to retain their memories of their lesser forms, as well as the bonds they forged. This means that those tamed when small are capable of being controlled as they grow. Oh, how exciting...however, this also means it might be possible to turn these beasts into weapons of mass destruction - on our side. 

While I have had the fortune of witnessing serval evolutions, I have yet to conclude all of the triggers that result in this sudden change. I have been able to single out a few methods:

One. Time and experience. It seems the older beasts are more likely to evolve, as are those who engage in combat regularly. This appears to be the most common way to insight a reaction; however it is not the only one. 

Two. Human interaction. As strange as it sounds, I’ve noticed some of these creatures evolve as a result of their contact with human beings. I’m unsure as to why or how, but those who share a close bond with their beasts may end earning a reward for their compassion.

Three. I suspect there are many methods I do not yet know of. I encourage anyone who manages to befriend one of these creatures to spent time studying them. You may discover there is an unknown method when it comes to triggering an evolution.

Lastly. There appear to be special stones that can trigger an evolution when matched with the right creature. There are many different ones, and they will only work on certain animals, not all. Some have started to appear on the black market, but I’ve managed to find one - a beautiful blue in color, during my travels. As a result, I believe these objects can be found all over the world. They stand out from normal stones. You’ll know the moment you spot one if you’ve found a stone able to insight a reaction. 

These creatures may be far more dangerous than we originally thought. However, these beasts are intelligent, and capable of forming bonds. It is my belief that we can one day learn to live with them as equals. 

Evolution Stones have been discovered, and begin appearing on the black market. However, it appears these stones can also be found hidden in various places in all of the known regions.

New Journal; Entry 01

The bumps under my wheels are beginning to even out. The woods are beginning to thin. Where once grew lush and verdant the thicket that blotted the Sun, now there grows a thin underbrush. The leaves have begun to wither on the bough; The trittering croak of the nightjar has become a familiar lullaby, the bright and airy holler of the shrike a waking call.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

Siempre fui el tipo de persona que a la primera señal de peligro huye, pero ahora me es imposible huir, no importa que tan grandes y rojas sean las señales. Hiria: Purpose, Journey, Heritage - #01

A forgotten god, a vow, and spilled blood.

A colorful city of tall spires and thick buttresses, under a dome.

A fire is raging; an appearance in an advertisement.

Gara is a troublesome goddess. She guards purpose, journeys, and heritage. As the world has shrunk, she became less purposeful and more troublesome, and her worship faded, but I recognized her from my grandmother's stories; a giant spotted cat, walking away from me. She is terrifying; I knew I had to follow. I made the journey to Hiria.

Hiria is larger than I knew. I know Gara respects vows; I made one to find her here and learn what I could, to have something to tell my family when I returned. (Not that they'll listen anyway.) But I couldn't see her. No one had seen a large jaguar, and I don't think that's the sort of thing someone would forget to mention. People talk about other spirits here, but none I recognize.

I could have given up. Well, actually, I almost did. I was on my way out of the city when I saw her pawprint on the ground, larger than both my hands. Grandmother said Gara respects atonement. I cut my arm and scattered blood into the dirt; I will not turn away from my path again. When Iooked up, I was in the eternal city.

It was Hiria still, but different. The rain had stopped, although the ground still felt damp. The city still swirled with color, but the buildings seemed sturdier, taller, some stretching up even further to hold up a painted dome of stars. I would have stopped to wonder, but at the smell of smoke I turned around - this city was on fire! I ran, of course.

Later, as I stood in the crowd at the end of the street, watching as the city fought the blaze with ladder and hose, I saw Gara. Not the goddess, of course, but her image. Someone offered me a cigarette, and on the package was her wide golden head, laughing. (Roaring?) It didn't taste like Grandmother's, but it was a comfort anyway, as the smoke filled up under those painted stars.

Crash out

I really just been in weird state for a while. It’s becoming a battle within myself, where I wanna just get completely fucked up but my handling my responsibilities are way more important.

It’s a form of self-health in which one just gets fucked up; so a lot of liquor and a lot of weed an even some shrooms. The best way I can think of to release all my demons at once so to speak. Actually for me it’s like silencing my demons so I can think an work thru my problems in order to get to my priorities.

My priorities are one of the biggest thing holding me back from doing what I have for so long be trying to avoid. I could have crashed out in Louisville, I had ample opportunity as well as lack of responsibilities. Now I’m St.Louis I feel flooded with them whether it be my daughter or my dog, my bm or my mama. Everything is coming from every which way an it’s like hold am I expected to handle all of these things. All the while thinking if one thing fell in place the other things would come with time and patience.

Patience is another component of crashing out for two reasons. Generally you have to be patient to go thru the bullshit for these feelings to even arise an become frequent. The holding out on going with one’s move creates a range of emotions or situations; For me it creates a cycle of activities where I find myself doing things that I could’ve been avoid but holding…..

Once upon a time... There was a squirrel living in the woods, near a lake. Oh, he hadn't lived here for long. In fact, he had only arrived very recently, wounds from his trip covering his body, exhausted and hungry and searching for shelter as winter was slowly setting its white coat all over the country. Food had grown rare, and it was difficult to find a tree that wasn't already occupied. The poor squirrel was starting to despair, cold and hungry, until he found a tree unlike any other...
