The quiet tragedy of finishing a brilliant book, only to discover it's just a literary black hole. No new readers. Zero discourse. Just me, screaming into the void about how good it is.

Some weeks ago, I attended a book cover workshop in which I decided to make a cover for my favorite book putting in practice all that I learnt. It is a continuous illustration which goes from the back to the front of the cover, including the flaps. However, since Eon and Eona is a duology, last minute I decided to include a spine with a special design with a dragon head, that I want to complete eventually in a Eona cover design. The measures are not realistic since this is just a mock up, but it was really fun.

I am so happy Eon is my first cover design. It has always been a dream to me to become a professional illustrator and to fully illustrate these books. Some day!…

CAN WE PLEASEEEE TALK ABOUT THESE BOOKS

Never in all my years since reading have I discovered any community around these books and truly.. that’s disappointing. This duo is by far one of my favorite books I have ever read, a masterpiece, the only books I’ve reread more than once. From character development to plot, they are amazing and I could not recommend them enough

So PLEASE I am actually begging if you’ve read them let me know I’m dying to talk about them with someone

how to train your dragon, meta edition.

the hiccup method: develop trust and comaradery over time, food acting as the go-to icebreaker.

talk to dragons, ideally in their own draconic language/s or with telepathy. if those are biologic impossibilities, educating yourself on draconic customs and on recent (for them) politics show you to be acting in Good Faith.

beat the dragon in a fight, shōnen protagonist style.

survive the dragon doing its best to kill you.

be good at riddles and fluent in the complexities of governance. a balance between pragmatism & benevolence can prove crucial.

hatch & raise the dragon lovingly.

have a very susy family tree that may or may not have featured gene splicing, blood magic, and man-made eldritch abominations.

I'm glad Eona had a preface, because I read Eon, the first book, a few years ago. It's such a good duology, honestly! Queer characters? Yep. Fantasy based off Chinese mythology instead of the generic medieval European? Check. Awesome characters and plot? Check. Disabled characters? Also check. It's just fantastic.
