Ruby is a weak type of Saiyan, and Sapphire is the supreme Kaioshin of East.

They fall in love at Earth, when Ruby loses her control in one of her training seasons, turning herself into an Oozaru. Sapphire saves the earth from her destruction by cutting her tail off, even knowing that was the only way Ruby felt stronger as a Saiyan.

After some time together, they fight along against an evil corporation from the galaxy. When they were about to lose, Sapphire uses their last chance to win by using the Potara earrings to fuse with Ruby, forming the strongest fusion of all galaxy, Garnet.
