Right after visiting Nemea, we drove to Epidauros (around 65 kms south-east). I had only heard about the theater in there, but there was a huge archaeological site dedicated to the god Asclepius.
The theater of Epidauros is famous for its perfect acoustics, even nowadays! It's still in use, so it must be incredible to attend a play in there (when it's not so cold, maybe better 🥶). We got so tired going up and downstairs to test those acoustics, it's enormous! (up to 12000 people fit in there!😮)
The rest of the site had many buildings that were part of the Sanctuary: a stadium, the temple, the bath houses or the Abaton (not related to Sabaton 😂), where the patients were sent to rest (because Asclepius is a healing god, so the sick would visit his premises). All of these you can see in the pics, but there was more, although, way worse conserved.
Extra: There were no cats in the ruins, most of them were near the entrance of the site, for a bit more of warmth and to catch the last sun rays 🌞The last clever boy was waiting on the fountain for someone to open the faucet so he could drink 🤣 Adorable!
